KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid

When you get the bug... you get it bad. So I have a new build coming to start planning... tank shipped. My mixed reef is coming along nicely and will update that thread as soon as I get my permanent light in there...

The new tank will be going into my office at work. Being at work and a second tank, I want to keep this one much more simplistic. I wanted some different fish than my typical mixed reef Since it will be a bit heavier on the bioload... more durable corals.

System

SCA 50G PNP System

  • 24x24x20 - Rimless
  • 10mm Starphire Glass
  • Stock Sump

Hardware (Preliminary)

  • SCA-301 Skimmer (Stock, or PLS-100)
  • PH2500 Return Pump (Stock)
  • Apex JR
  • Jebao RW-8 Or MP10QD
  • NanoBox DUO
  • Cobalt 100w Heater
  • DIY Screen Top

Livestock (Preliminary)

  • Snowflake Eel
  • Wrasse (TBD)
  • Maroon Clownfish (Gold Stripe)
  • Bleeker's Hawkfish
  • Midas Blenny

Ideal Maintenance Goal:

  • 20G Water Change once a month.
  • Alternate Carbon/ChemiPure Monthly.
  • Change out filter pad weekly.
  • Kalkwasser in ATO. Spot dosing calcium & alkalinity as needed.

I don't care for anything MDF when it comes to tank stands. However I will be using the standard stand as a cabinet but making a steel skeleton around it to actually hold the weight of the tank. I will also be making a butcher block top for the tank to sit on. The top will be 48" long to give me some maintenance room on both sides.

I will be taking a lot of time to set this up, so updates may come in slow.

No updates?! I have the exact same tank and light (assuming you got the DUO). If you did get the DUO, what does your lighting program for this tank look like, and how is it working out for you? I have been trying to figure out my schedule.
