Looks like an acro of some sort, looks to be dying from the base up....I would frag the parts that still have good flesh and cross your fingers.

With the green at the bottom, looks like its dying?

the coral is all green its just the lighting, what made you think it is dying?

Look at the top of the coral: brownish green. Bottom is bleached, dead- whitish green

I agree with Harry. The coral is dying. The "brown areas" are sort of viable but the green and white are just the skeleton. Possibly slow tissue necrosis (STN) if its happening slowly. Frag the ends and good luck.

Well yesterday it was all the same color and today it is bleached.. What can be the issue ? all my water parameters are in check and perfect. It was 12" below my AI PRIME at 100% intensity... Could it be the lighting is too strong?

Well there could be a lot of things. What are your water parameters? Did you acclimate?

What settings is your AI Prime using? 12k?

also, what were the parameters of the tank this coral was in before.

i got some frags from kat last year. my tank was wayyyy cleaner than hers and the drastic difference in water quality/parameters caused it to RTN in a matter of days.

My parameters:

SG 1.028

Amonia nitrate nitirite is 0

phosphates is 0

calcium is 430ppm

magnesuim is unknown

Also at the LFS they do not use LED

accimation was just temp acclimate.

Sadly it looks like its a goner. The best thing would be to frag off all the parts that are NOT white and glue them. The bleached areas will just spread unless it is fragged.

yeah i figured, do you have an idea on what may have caused it ?

Nope, I don't. I would just reccomend slowing down (you've bought a clam, anemone, and an acropora recently) and researching before you make a purchase.

Like you bought this coral before you knew what it was. I wouldn't reccomend it- if you researched first you would see that acropora is a mostly expert level coral that required minute control over your parameters.

yeah, i wanted to start going with SPS and they told me this is a beginner sps along with some montipora digita, i guess i was misinformed so while this thread is going, what do you all recommend as a next step for sps. Right now i have a few frags of montipora Digita, and a burdens of paradise colony all doing well and growing well.

What would you recommend me buying as my next piece besides acropora. i was thinking something in the lokani family

Honestly I suggest waiting, giving your tank some time to mature.

You'll learn whether you need to dose, how to keep things consistent, and more.

It was hard for me to learn this, but the best thing for your tank is to let it "go" for a while- allowing maximum growth and keeping your hands out of the tank.

You're maturing Harry! It's a hard lesson to learn, but it's very rewarding to take a couple weeks to a month before adding anything new. I'm not perfect. I went almost all summer without adding anything... than in 3 weeks I added a frogspawn (2 weeks ago), rose bubble tip anenome (last week), and 2 birdsnest frags (this week).

I'm not recommending this behavior. Now I'm on at least 1 month+ without adding anything. And I'm down to researching and looking for specific specimens

If the good parts are brownish and polyps not very close to each and green the it is a Scrib's green.

It is a good beginners SPS after a birds nest and a fast grower. Just keep your parameters stable the Scrib's green will recover. They are pretty hardy. Cannot say about the digita
