lkoechle
Just picked up a green monti frag from the LFS, put it ina tupperware and 2 sea spiders jumped off. Yikes! Our plan is to dip with our expired coral rx, and then follow it up with seachems reef dip, then put in another tupperwar for observation for 15 minutes or so to see if anything jumps ship. I do not have a qt tank set up, would you risk putting it into your tank? Link to comment

lkoechle
Well there was a lot of decay underneath while inspecting during dipping, I suspect from the spiders so we decided to avoid the issue and instead fragged the frag. We took two healthy corners off and they are in an iodine dip right now to help heal the fragging. Hopefully, they will survive. We decided it wasn't worth risking our entire collection for a $25 frag. Link to comment
amphipod
Don't kill your tank!! Set up a quarantine, this is too much a risk, sea spiders are very resilient and the best method of eradicating is kill on sight, which can be really hard for some species. Also don't trust the new frag because some sea spiders lay eggs in the hosts skin or tissue, basically undippable. Link to comment
ndrobey
Take the frag back to the LFS. I wouldn't buy any coral from the same tank. Link to comment

Muraki
too bad many fish stores allow no return for marine livestock, annoying policy. I brought a frag back because I saw 7 sea spiders in the bag by the time I got home. I didn't even take it out of the bag yet and just drove back to the fish store.... and was like... really? I got store credit, but I have not bought coral from them since. Link to comment
ndrobey
Yeah, I know a guy that had to stand outside the store with a sign that was derogatory concerning the store before they would take the bad coral back. Link to comment
lkoechle
It used to be a really great store. I had a tradr in and was going to get a small fish, maybe a blenny or similar but four fish were dying in the small tanks system and one was a yellow watchman I really wished they would put in the freezer. He had a broken jaw . So that was a no go. He forgot to take my credit off for the rrade in so now I still have that credit (husband caught it and went in before we left) but I don't know what I would get. They used to have excellent livestock. My last few experiences have not been good though... Link to comment
