DIY MAME overflow, is it doable?

I'm thinking of attempting a MAME overflow pipe. I would only need to do the drain pipe, I have Lily pipes that would be the returns. I was thinking a 3/4" OD 1/2" ID acrylic pipe could be bent into shape, what do you all think? I haven't found anything relevant with searching.

The only thing I would be worried about with a separate, lilypipe return, would be how the heck you would get it to auto-resiphon after it's been turned off.

Yeah that's a good point. Hmm. Maybe I will just keep an eye out for a used one then.

You don't need to worry about the return to start a syphon. As long as there is water in the overflow, when the power comes back and the pumps start and water pushed back into the overflow then a syphon will begin.

Don't know if you've seen this build: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/254404-diy-mame-style-pvc-overflow/
