Mini temp refugium

So I have a bunch of chaeto in my display, one of my hermits needs to be put in the hole for bad behaviour and I want to harvest a culture of pods ( my clowns love to pick them off as a light bite).

As I'm yet to deside on the finish for the stand I am making, my sump (,that won't fit the current stock stand)mis not live yet, I am thinking of a temporary refugium in the display. Is there any merit in using one of those floating breeder boxes to hold the chaeto away from being blown around like tumble weed and to get my pod culture started off!?

It would work as long as the pods want to stay in the chaeto, some amhipods do show a preference for living in algae vs rock.

To be fair it was a balls idea, the pods just swam free within seconds and the hermit spent 3 hours figuring out how to climb the slits... And proceeded to the main tank. The chaeto is lonely in there lol...

 you got the rock loving pods looks like. Hermit crabs are smarter then they look, if you cover the top, hermit is forced to stay.
