Zepo.
I'm getting back into the hobby again with a 60 gallon acrylic tank i picked up on the cheap. On my last tanks i used led wholesalers par38's and loved them but it looks like they don't sell them anymore. Anyone use theses? Are two enough for a 60 gallon with only softies and LPS? They look like they are better quality than the cheesy Chinese ones also listed. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281589199929?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=580598909707&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Link to comment
xmas_one
For almost the same price you could get Chinese black box units. Link to comment
uwdanno
Check out coral compulsion par 38 bulbs. I've owned a couple and really liked them. They have coverage charts on their website. Link to comment
Zepo.
Hmmm, they look almost exactly the same as the coral compulsion ones....maybe same manufacture? Link to comment
Muraki
For the price, I wouldn't buy that par bulb. These have great reviews here on nano reef and would be priced the same. Coral Compulsion or Reef LED Link to comment
Zepo.
15 watt for reed LED vs 35 for the one i posted? $40 more each for the equivalent coral compulsion. I think i will pull the trigger and see how they work. They allow returns so ill send them back if something does look right. For the price, I wouldn't buy that par bulb. Muraki
Reef LED has the Par38 for $84 with a clamp. Or the Photic 54 would be a tad more. http://reefled.ca/photic-54-starter-kit/ But keep us updated on the ebay light! Link to comment
Zepo.
I just got them up. Hung from work light sockets. I took one apart because i was curious about the internals. The build quality of these is wayyy better than the $30 chinese ones. Link to comment
Horerczy
Hmmm, they look almost exactly the same as the coral compulsion ones....maybe same manufacture? It's just a generic body made in china either way. Honestly I like the new par 38 units but I think the ones that are passively cooled are better if only because their heatsink can do the heavy lifting without active cooking behind it. To OP: I'd love to see a shot of the LEDs without the lenses. Also what is the size of the fan? Link to comment

To OP: I'd love to see a shot of the LEDs without the lenses. Also what is the size of the fan? Makes sense, less room for failure. The only problem was the passive ones only went to 18 watts, i would have had to put a third light over my tank. These are claimed to be 35 watts each but i don't have a kill-a-watt to test. I have the lights mounted now but it looked like a 60 mm fan, not really sure how to remove the lenses. Link to comment
