JBJ Water Level PROBLEM

Recommended Posts

So i have a JBJ 28 with an AI Prime, and an Intank Media basket. All of the sudden, out of nowhere, my chamber water levels drop really fast, and the main tank area is at the very top, near overflow. This happened really out of nowhere. Whats wrong and how can i fix this?

  • Blockage at the intake or other area of the rear chamber.

Check media basket for clogged media/filter floss 1st.

  • Or you are not topping off. Always top off in the rear chambers and not the display or intake chamber.

I always top off the rear, and just checked, no cloggae, could it be that the design of the media basket is that all 100% of water is going through it, and it could be too slow? I have the basket pushed right against the overflow so all the water goes into it.

What media & flossdo you have in it? You're probably blocking the flow

How long have you used the media basket and exactly what is in it?

Top to bottom: filter floss (Acurel Filter Fiber), Purigen, 6.5oz bag of chemipure elite.

Have had the basket in there at least a month

I'd try to remove the basket, shake the purigen, and replace the filter floss.

Unless you've upgraded the pump recently, there is something blocking the water from entering the chambers.

I wouldn't say i upgraded the pump, but i just cleaned out the chambers and cleaned the pumps, and it did increase flow by a solid amount, could it be pushing more water than whats coming in?

Possibly. What pump(s)?

Also, you SURE a bag of media or floss isn't hiding somewhere blocking it?

Yes. Add new saltwater to the rear chambers to bring them up if needed.

Positive, its the stock pumps, 266 gph each pump.

I only use the following on my NC 28G with no issues on my Intank media basket: Top has filter floss, middle is empty, and bottom has a small 5.5oz bag of chemipure blue(good enough for 30G). If you use CPB like me, you can ditch the Purigen. I replace my media bag about every 3 months.

Something has to be restricting flow into the back somewhere. The pump is pushing water out faster than its flowing back in.

Or

The pump(s) are too powerful for the tank which is odd considering they are stock...it's not out of the realm of possibility as CAD had sent me wrong stock pumps and I had a similar issue a couple years ago. (I know you don't have a cad tank, but shit happens sometimes with any manufacturer)
