Dreichler
So i have a 28 gallon JBJ with an AI Prime, and i went to the LFS and saw this pygmy octopus, about 2-3 inches head to end of tentacles and i fell in love with it. I know i can't keep one because i would feel bad having it in like a quarantine tank INSIDE the main 28 JBJ, and i know for a fact it will scape as i have no hood or anything, its open. What are some of the most awesome and cool things you guys have seen in reef tanks besides some nice looking fish. Im looking for something thats just unique and cool to have in a reef tank. NOTE, i don't want something that will sting or eat corals, or any of my livestock. Are jellyfish reef safe? Will they sting fish or corals? Link to comment
eodmike
Jelly fish would tear on your rock. You need a very special tank for them.Sea Apples are pretty awesome.Sexy Shrimp are a favorite of mine. Link to comment
tibbsy07
Jellyfish tanks are more like reefs are not safe for jellyfish. They are too easily damaged. There are jellyfish tanks out there, but all they have in them is jellyfish. Cephalopods - octopi, squid, and cuttlefish - don't do well in captivity. Tend not to live very long in most hobbyist tanks. Link to comment
PicoSavvy
Jellyfish need their own tank, there requirements are different from what a reef tank can give them. In a jellyfish tank, the tank is normally round and have some sort of a flow bar that provides enough flow to keep the jellyfish suspended In the water column Cephalopods like tibbsy07 said, don't really last that long in our tanks, from what I have read they normally last 8 month and hard to pass the 1 year mark Have you seen frogfish they are super cool Link to comment

PicoSavvy
Are cuttlefish reef safe and safe with crabs, anemones, zoas, clowns, and pygmy angels? nope I seen cuttlefish eat crabs and shrimp before. If it Fits in their mouth then there is a chance they may eat itHere is a good read on them (https://www.tonmo.com/community/pages/cuttlefish-care/) Link to comment

Manbearfish
Porcelain Anemone Crabs are super cool and reef safe, they look awesome I love mine, and they're pretty cheap too if you can find them. They're like a crab and a filter feeder combined. Coco Worms/Feather Dusters are pretty cool as well. Link to comment
1.0reef
I'm not sure what the care requirements are for upside down jellies, but many public aquariums keep them in shallow mangrove tanks. There are plenty of cool anemone shrimps, mantis shrimps are cool and coral safe. Seahorses can be kept with some corals as well, but they are fish. Link to comment
Marc.The.Shark
Stars, I have a couple in my 8 gallon doing good on scraps as I don't necessarily target feed them. Pretty nice size @ around 4-5" each. Check out KP Aquatics, they have nano sized stars. They are somewhat nocturnal, but it's funny to see the legs reaching out when I feed the tank. Link to comment
sangheili
Red Galethea Squat Lobsters and Strawberry Crabs are very reef safe and amazing animals. Link to comment

Bingo1213
Electric flame scallops are sure cool but they don't live long. Mine lasted only about 2 years which from what I have read is a very long time for them. I also really like acro crabs. Hard to come by mine came in with a large acro colony. But they are very fun to watch. I also really like my brittle star but he is not seen often. Even some pincushion urchins can be a very interesting addition to a reef tank. Link to comment
