lego008
I live out in the country and our water has iron in the water, is that going to affect the fish? Link to comment
Markburns43
Unless your filtering it and making rodi i wouldnt use it, eventually you'll build up iron concentrations with in the tank which can be toxic, as for treating with your waternwith a conditioner that states removes heavy metals, ehh , I use it on my fresh water tank but that's alittle different story. Does your water taste like blood? Link to comment
lego008
No, it douse not taste like blood. We just get it straight from the well, no filtration. Link to comment
k4ndyk1ng
For a reef use rodi water, don't bother with the well Link to comment
lego008
But RO water systems are sooo expensive, do i really need one, cant i just use a conditioner? Link to comment
tibbsy07
Technically you can use it - you might end up with lots of algae, but you CAN use it. Link to comment

lego008
Is there any other choice that i have? Link to comment
Admonition
But I am only 14, ok i can't just go buying a ro system and installing it. You don't -have- to "install" the RODI unit. I hook mine up to the kitchen faucet each time I need water, then I put it in the closet until I need more. Link to comment
lego008
What is the name a model no. of your RODI unit Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
Do you have a LFS any where close by? You could buy your RO or even pre mixed with salt for around a £5er a week? Link to comment
lego008
could i just use city water and put prime in it? our city really filters there water Link to comment
jedimasterben
could i just use city water and put prime in it? our city really filters there water No, they don't. They filter it as little as possible to make the water drinkable and that is it. You do not know what the water contains and is a problem for a reef aquarium. You can use whatever whatever you want, all of us couldn't really care less about it, but we are trying to warn you that you will more than likely create a problem over a relatively short amount of time. If all you can do is tap water, then you should reconsider a reef tank and consider keeping some fish for now. Link to comment
lego008
OK thanks, I think I will just use our walmarts water, they use RODI and other filters on their water. Link to comment
