Dreichler
So i got a small blend from my friend about an inch or inch and a half. It dug a nice big burrow front and center under a piece of live rock and dug tunnels connecting to the neighboring shelf live rock. I love his personality and everything how he moves around and comes out. BUT HE IS A MESS. I will leave my house for a couple hours, and i come back, and my colony of 60 rasta zoas and bowser zoas are gone, both colonies were covered with sand everywhere. They do sit a few inches in front of his live rock. The 3 inch base of my stylo was under sand as well. My scoly was almost all the way under as well. Im wondering, does he do this forever, or is this just a phase to get happy and comfortable. If he does this forever I'm taking him out, I've blown sand off pieces nonstop all day long and if i have to do that everyday, its a no. So just wondering if this is a phase or not. Link to comment
Pinner Reef
He's excavating still. He'll still be pulling the sand out until he has a decent lair dug out, then it'll just be occasionally. Link to comment

smeagol108
This is a minor issue. Not a big time issue. Lol. Just move ur corals for the time being. Or if ur not a fan of the behavior rehome it. Link to comment

Pinner Reef
From what I've seen they generally undermine the entire rockwork up to an inch (this is the worst of it). They will then open and close new entry ways as they see fit. Dunno if that helps or not. lol Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
This behavior sounds more like a Diamond Goby's behavior (or another sandsifting goby) rather than blenny though. Link to comment
Dreichler
What type of blenny? No idea what type of blenny, let me see if i can get a pic This behavior sounds more like a Diamond Goby's behavior (or another sandsifting goby) rather than blenny though. Its for sure a blenny Link to comment

Pinner Reef
I was wondering what type of blenny/goby it was too. Link to comment

HarryPotter
For sure will, but if its a blend, do they usually do this sand remodeling to the max? And for how long?Question. Is the "blend" your autocorrect for "blenny" or did your friend actually give you a fish he called "blend"? It's the third instance of you referring to it as "blend", so I'm confused haha My scooter blenny has done a permanent sand storm within the tank. Nothing a quick blast with a turkey baster can't fix! BTW I'm in south Miami- so welcome fellow Floridian Link to comment

Honestly depends for what. Avoid ReefTop at all costs lol- they won't sell you anything unless the "manager" is there (And he/she is never there). Favorite LFS for fish & most coral is Exotic Aquariums. Great variety at AWESOME prices. Up near Kendell zoa miami Executive Airport there's VIP Reef, which is famous for their RFAs. My super favorite place is a secretive in house store, Perfect Corals. He has amazing clams for under $40, SPS frags at $5, and more. Totally love it and he's nice. Link to comment
