Purple sponge, eating my trumpet?

So I have been losing my trumpet coral steadily for a week now, on closer inspection I have noticed a purple mat, sponge growing over it, I can't see it over the dead heads however.

The polyps seem to melt over the course of a day, seemingly healthy the day before. I have attached an image but it's not great quality. Look at the lower right hand side at the base (it's jammed into place with some base rock btw)

Yes, that will work. But you still need to get rid of that purple stuff before it destroys something else.

In the picture, there are two trumpet polyps at the bottom of the colony that are possibly salvageable, if you put super glue around them to get rid of the purple stuff.

Yeah, I definitely see that purple thing climbing up the coral reaching a polyp. Take the colony out of the tank, put super glue everywhere except on the polyps. Cover that purple thing completely with super glue. Then put the colony back in the tank.

Thanks, I hope it's not clung on to any other rocks, I move it to the front to get it under the lights
