I was kinda looking forward to a long/slim model just like this beam for peninsula type reef tanks.

That sounds like the quad.

Yeah not really looking to spend $700 for a quad just to use on a Mr. Aqua 6 gallon long.

Ah thought you meant a larger tank :)

I gotcha now. There isn't really much way to do it with the amount of colors needed for a reef, any spacing between the diodes will give color banding, even with a diffuser on the splash shield. On the current models, the diodes are similar enough for that not to matter.

LOL, can tell I'm not a planted tank guy!

The first time I ever saw it I thought what the h*ll is that!

For now, no. I have had a few requests but the design is hard to create a nice color that I would be ok with selling.

None for reef tanks?

Yes. Plenty.

would the 12" be enough for a display macro refugium that measeures 18L x 14W x 12H?

Honestly no. 18" has never been a size that has been request.

Any possibility of a 18" model? This would be for a 20x20x20 (not square though, bullet shaped) vivarium.

LOL Do it Dave!

Honestly, there are a lot of people who use 18" ExoTerras for vivariums. Obviously this light doesn't have UVB for people keeping lizards, but for people doing a planted viv or dart frogs, there is a whole new market for you!

A 12" fixture should be able to cover an 18" tank without much difficulty, and multiples will surely do it.

Dave will these support regular potted plants? Might be a good alternative to another tube fixture in my chameleon cage.

I don't see why not. There are very few differences in the light requirements between terrestrial and aquatic plants.

I know a lot of people use 6500Kish lights for plant growth in terrariums. The Jungle Dawn is pretty popular which is a mix of 80% 6500K (cool white) and 20% 4500K (neutral white). But then, I hear people complain the 6500K lights do give a cool blue effect. Dave's planted beam uses neutral white and warm white. That will take the blue cast out of the light and provide some red wavelengths that peak some chlorophylls without having to add supplemental red lights. At least, I think so.

Shhhhhhh, I need the 12" for my 20" tank. ;)
