Zoas lost color

Hi

I have fire and Ice zoanthids placed at the bottom of my tank with AI PRIME Leds

they seem to lose their color, as well as any other zoa i kept in the past. However, any LPS or SPS I keep does fine.

any ideas on what might make my fire and ice color up

Is it only color they are losing or are the skirts doing something as well? What intensity do you run your lights and how many inches from the zoa is the light fixture? Are their stalks extended or do they lay flat on the rock/plug?

The stalks are extended, so i tested i put some all at the top and some at the bottom, the ones at the bottom have extended stalks but better color, the ones at the top ( just put it last night) are short flat stocks but no color...

from the sand bed to the lights it is about 24-32 inches lights are 100% intensity.

To clean of water is possible, coupled with too much light has them expel there zooanthalae, which in turn causes them to lose color and look almost transparent. All zoas and palys have different flow and light requirements, so basically just top or bottom, left or right and either directly under or shaded has all to do with how they reproduce and color up. Fire and ice IME like slightly mid level of the tank. Too high intensity will also cause that clear washed out look. LEDs are a lot stronger than most think. I would try and borrow a par meter and also feed the tank with reef roids or one of the many other coral foods. Lower the intensity and work your way up. It can take washed out unhappy zoas months to recover.
