waldoz
My wife loves to move suff arond all the time so you see my problem. I don't have anything right now so i am open to suggestions. I am trying to ge a tank in my house married for 21 yrs so if it was moviable with out having to take it down maybe she could do it as I find the house all moved when I get home from work. So I am open for some suggestion . Oh yeah 1200 sqft house and 5 kids and loving it! Thanks! Link to comment
RK_tek
Buy a 75g or bigger and it'll never get moved. Or you could get something like a bio cube, JBJ, or Innovative Marine AIO tank. As with almost any tank, it should be drained before moving. At the least you'd get water on the floor, at worst you break the tank by flexing the stand and stressing the glass. You could get a small tank like a Mr Aqua 12g or smaller like a PicO that could be moved rather easily. Link to comment
PicoSavvy
Any aio tank 5 gallon and below is pretty easy to move. Link to comment
Muraki
I suggest anything that is 5 gallons or less. Still won't be "Easy" to move, but can be moved with care. I managed to move my Fluval Spec V, with only taking 1 gallon of water out. Picked it up, placed it on a board to support the bottom and keep flat, and placed it in the back seat of my truck to go from the apartment to my new house (20 minutes away). I would think this can be done with other tanks of this size or smaller. Link to comment
waldoz
Yeah was looking at the fusion 10 and the jbj pico. Link to comment
PicoSavvy
Easy is a relative term compare to moving a 75 gallon a 5 gallon is a breeze to move Link to comment

PicoSavvy
You can always do a redneck bikini. (http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/363469-redneck-bikini/) Limited life stock space but highly mobile Link to comment
Neebles
I wouldn't get anything with the sole purpose of being able to move it. That sounds like it could wreak havoc on a reef tank and its inhabitants. Call me the party pooper but I would tell wifey hands off. Link to comment
waldoz
I would not say she moves stuff all the time but she does with the kids room and that's where I want to put it. I have not been able to chisel out a spot in the front room yet. Also trying to put the angle on it with marine science in mind. I don't know but I can not be the only one in this situation. That is mainly why I posted in this forum . Link to comment
patback
My mr Aqua 3.5 can be picked up and moved full of water and rocks. Link to comment
PicoSavvy
Why not put the tank on a rolling cart, like the ones they use for av equipment to move it around, from room to room Link to comment
waldoz
That might be an option, still need to get the tank into the house though. Link to comment
gkarris
Low tech/no tech jars - especially enclosed ones: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/362072-low-techno-tech-picos-thread/ This person online made an awesome jar - does have some tech (a powerhead): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_-wtRjvoF8 Another low-tech vase: Link to comment
PicoSavvy
"You don't need these fancy equipment" quote from the first video. But I like my fancy equipment!!! From my proten skimmer to my sexy doser, I like them. But yea a reef jar is probably your best option on a movable tank Link to comment
12_egg_Omelette
My 12 gallon tank was heavy to move, my wife constantly wanted to move it. She has very expensive taste in furniture and so does her mom. They are always buying stuff and wanting to see where it fits best. Just explain that disrupting the sand bed can potentially cause her favorite coral or fish to die because of ammonia. The other option is to buy a really nice tank low iron, furniture grade stand and have it be the focal point of the room and everything else based around it. Link to comment
PicoSavvy
Another option is a in wall mounted tank. There is no way of moving that. Link to comment
waldoz
What I would like to do is start small get in the door and make the tank at least a 20 long. I will have to do some digging around and see whats on here for small jars etc. Link to comment
PicoSavvy
Almost any glass jar would work. I would recommend the ones made for food, but in general glass is pretty safe Link to comment
waldoz
Every time I go to the craft store with my wife I see these square glass tanks always thought it would be cool to do a small one and that's what it might take. Most of them the glass is not clear on them though. Link to comment

Most of them the glass is not clear on them though. Just do a small 5g AIO Aquarium! The Cad Lights 4g is very clear glass, has filteration built in, and supposedly has a SPS capable LED. Tank will weigh at most 30lbs, not much http://www.cadlights.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=300 Link to comment
CJJon
really? That's new one. She is going to want to move your tank? Seems odd to me. I'd tell her hands off. She can move all the rest of the crap in the house to her hearts content. Link to comment
PicoSavvy
Put the tank in the garage, that is the only safe place for man. Link to comment
waldoz
It gets too cold in the winter and thats where the project car is. Lots of dust and smoke etc. Not a good spot, really want to see it every day. Link to comment

We have 1300sqft house so she moves things around to make it look bigger As for the rule, garage is mine house is hers. Like I posted before I was going to use the garage it was a bad idea.
