HarryPotter
It was dead in the before and after pictures... A wide open clam is a dead clam Link to comment

Melonlink
As a door nail. How did you make the saltwater? I had 1,000 grams of fresh water (tapwater), and 30 grams of salt. But today I brought it seawater from the ocean.. Link to comment

It's not going to become alive any time soon, even with natural seawater Link to comment
Neebles
You mean it's not Frankenclam? Link to comment
Melonlink
If the clam is surely dead, then can anyone please give me advice for my next? or tell me what I need? I only have my money from allowance, so i only get $5 a week. But I've already saved up about $50. I can get another clam from the beach(closed), but i'll need a cheap setup for it. I will appreciate any advice and i promise to send photos and updates on how i'm doing. I had 1,000 grams of fresh water (tapwater), and 30 grams of salt. But today I brought it seawater from the ocean.. When I found it (at the beach), it was still tightly closed. could it have already been dead? Link to comment

Sadly if it was closed it was alive, but now it's dead. It is much more complicated to keep a clam than just water. Here's a good link to look at http://m.wikihow.com/Set-up-a-Marine-Reef-Aquarium Oh and on most beaches it's illegal to take livestock without a license btw You are better off at a fish store Link to comment
jambon
My advice is the clam you got lives under the sand bed... if you wer to find a rock wi some oysters or mussels attached you would have more luck... make sure the sea water does not sit too long as it will get smelly from the life in it dying. Save a few allowances and get a small glass tank and experimaent... you will learn a lot. Must be nice to live by the sea and have that available! Link to comment

Technically you are not aloud to take wildlife from beaches unless you have some special perm-ant but...I guesses it is fine...I would recommend buying one form your LFS and keeping it in a fully functional saltwater matured reef.I am getting a 3 gallon picotope build setup and I will be hopefully doing some stuff with clams so check that out when it is available. You went from sharks in a huge tank to clams in a 3G? Do you have any idea how hard it is to have clams in a 3G? Dosing? Salinity? Link to comment
