dragonxflare
I recently purchased a Salifert test kit for alk, and for a while, I thought my alk was really low. It turns out, when I used the test solution they gave me, i read 5.1 KH, instead of the 6.7 test solution. I assume I have a defective kit? Or am I doing something wrong? Link to comment
Marc.The.Shark
Yeah, the 1st thing I do when I get a new Salifert Alk test kit is check the exp. date & test the reference solution. If it's not expired & you've tested the reference solution with high resolution, then I'd contact them for a replacement Link to comment

Lesson learned for the future. I will contact BRS tomorrow and see what they say. Hopefully they will replace it, but if not, I can just contact Salifert. Link to comment
sean151
Got mine from DFS and mine seems to read low, just got it last week though and expires 1/2020. Was going to test tomorrow and test the reference solution at the same time, might as well test today. All other tests were in range for reef params, but Alk at 5dkh. Link to comment
dragonxflare
I contacted BRS, and they ended up giving me a full refund on the alk test, so everything worked out. I will prob just buy another soon Link to comment
