Neebles
My tank is about a year old...I have a large island on the right side that I would like to remove to allow for some more open space. I may keep parts of it for a more low profile island. Anyway, will it be detrimental to my bio filter if I remove the rocks? It's a 75 gallon tank w/ 35 gallon sump. I can toss a couple of the pieces of rock in the sump if I have to but I would rather not. Link to comment

GMay
You should be okay removing some of your live rock. It is certainly fine if the tank is well established. You could also remove it over a period of time to allow the remaining rock to adjust. Link to comment

I put the best of the three in my sump for now. I added a bunch of smaller pieces of dry rock I had from my smaller tank last year, so hopefully that will pick up some slack eventually. I'm pretty happy with the results. While it's nothing fancy, it opens up the scape how I wanted to. I'll post some pics once the dust settles. Link to comment
