Really Cadlights?...

Rant time...

 

So, I posed a question a little while back about what people thought was the best AIO pico tank and after some suggestions I purchased the Cadlights 4g mini tank.

 

I ordered my tank on 7/28 then waited and waited. A week later on 8/3 with no shipping confirmation I sent them an email asking if my tank had shipped. They sent me back an email back that day with a tracking #. I checked UPS, label generated, but item not recieved. Which means they waited until I emailed them about it to finally ship it out.

 

So, my tank arrived today. I was excited. I had ordered a couple things for it online, was looking forward to finding some nice live rock at my LFS to put in it and get it up and running. Well, as I pulled it out of it's boxes, it was well packed and came undamaged at least, it seemed like not everything was there.

 

The only things I recieved were the tank, a filter sponge,and a weird piece of glass that isn't quite the right shape to be a lid, and some plastic clips.

I was missing almost everything that is supposed to come with the tank.

 

LED light: missing,

pump: missing,

plumbing to hook up said pump: missing

the 2-piece hinged lid it's supposed to come with: missing

ceramic filter media: missing

possibly other things that should have been in there:IDK as there is no inventory sheet to compare to.

 

Looks like it's going to be a while yet before I can get my Pico reef started

Yeah, good luck. I sent them an email asking for a quote for a custom tank. That was over a month ago & still haven't heard back.......Maybe by Christmas! I'd send it back & get something else.

I apologize for the missing item. they usually are already pre-packed inside the Mini tanks, but this one seems like it wasn't in there. we will double check again before packing to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Seriously, with the customer service issues they have been having lately you'd think the least they could do is shoot you a reply that they were booked up. It seems like they are making more of an effort to clean up their customer service but it's like they just don't get it.

Well, update time...

 

So I followed the tracking # they sent me until today. When it finally updated a location it showed out for delivery in Minnesota. I live in North Carolina...

I emailed them about it, looks like it was just a mix up, they sent me a new tracking number which showed the right city, and then later today it got delivered.

 

I just got home from the beach a few minutes ago and got my package off the porch, opened it to see my stuff.

 

Lo and behold NO LID... the pump and LED light were there, but still no lid. On their website they say it comes with a 2-piece hinged glass lid. This is what came with my tank (1st shipment). I believe that there is also supposed to be ceramic filter media with it that I still don't have.

 

Now, if I ever get the rest of the stuff I'm missing it'll have been the 3rd try and at least 3 weeks since I originally ordered my tank... Really frustrated here.

 

You know what, I'm gonna cross out the whole thing I wrote. They now just told me that they changed to a single-piece lid and they JUST edited their site (like last 5 min) to reflect that. Also, no ceramic media, which I wasn't even sure about in the 1st place so I'm not worried about that. And they don't have to worry about me bothering them for anything ever again.

If I was you, I would go with something else. Customer service issues not-withstanding... The tank is only OK.

Posiitive: It looks nice and runs silently.

 

However, The return is too low and blows sand around. I feel like it should be about 2-3 inches higher.

Also I strongly dislike the clamp-on LED that came with it. It doesn't adjust very well, and is the wrong size for the tank. I'd spend my money elsewhere.

The light clamps on the side. Adjust the arm for height. I hope whatever you do, you get yourself a nice pico going!
