Hi NanoReef!

After tons of research and a big dream of starting a saltwater tank, I think I may be ready to start buying stuff for my tank. I decided I wanted a nano tank to start off with. I was thinking either the BioCube 29 Gallon or anything else that you guys recommend. With the BioCube I would have to purchase a Protein skimmer (Tunze Skimmer (Chamber 2) or Aquatic Life 115 (Chamber 1). Secondly, I would need a power center of some sort would the Coral Life Power Strip be okay? Thirdly, Would I need a UV sterilizer (Coral Life One? For the biocube) Fourthly, A good Heater (Neo-Therm?) Fifth a circulation pump (mp10 or 2 Hydor Nanos 425 with Hydor Wave ), Sixth a better pump (MJ1200 or Rio?). As of now i'm leaning towards the BioCube because of how cool it looks but if there is something else around the same price I would be interesting. I am low on funds, but I don't really care! I can't wait to get my tank. Also with the BioCube What would I get in terms of filtration (In tank Media Basket and refugium (rubble?) What would I get for Mechanical Filtration. I know in Section 1 of the back sump I would either have a heater or Skimmer Section 2 Either Skimmer and Media Basket or Media Basket and Refugium? And Section 3 heater and pump and UV sterilizer. I'm just starting off and am pretty much clueless! Also, In the future would the lighting the tank come with be sufficient to do corals? Or would I need to upgrade my lighting? I have been doing a lot of research on lighting and Im not sure which would be best for my Biocube. I was looking at the Kessil 160, the Aqua illumination Prime and Hydra26 . I just went the best for my money, and something that I wont have to replace that will give me a wide variety of corals to be able to grow. What would you recommend? I appreciate all the help!wink.png

Hey There! Looks like your off to a good start and actually planning unlike most of us! I have a tank very similar to the biocube 29, IVe got the nanocube 28. Anyway on to your questions.

you dont necessarily need a skimmer, Most will tell you that you don't in a tank that small. Thats not to say it isnt helpful but not necessary as long as you keep up on water changes. ALso look into Hng on the back skimmers to save room if you do decide to go that route.

Im sure that power center would be ok

No need for the UV sterilizer

For flow MP10 would be awesome but a jaebo rw or wp wll get the job done at a fraction of the cost. Koralia setup you mentioned would work too.

Not a bad idea to upgrade the back pump in your tank but that can be done down the road

For filtration Im not sure on schematics of Biocube but Id reccomend an intank basket so you can run a few different chemical filtrations. Dont Do live Rock rubble in the back, just collects detritus and you already have rock in the front. MEdia basket and refugium would be cool

As for lighting Ive heard great things about th AI Prime

Hope this helps a bit!
