Cove Posted August 5, 2015 Share Posted August 5, 2015 So I got my Yellow Watchmen Goby about a week and a half ago. Saw him hanging around for the first few days, then he continued to hide under my rocks. Now when I lift up my rocks he's not there. He doesn't come out when I feed, there were a few signs of burrows but thats about it.. The tank is a Fusion 20, he for sure hasn't jumped. The only fish in my tank are the YWG, a Purple Firefish and a Tailspot blenny. Is this common? I don't want to get a second YWG thinking this guy is dead and to end up with two in the end. I'd wait a week or two at least from the last sighting. Theoreticall it could have died and been put under LR or eaten by your CUC, but I would wait. Link to comment

From what I've read they wouldn't scavenge for dead fish? Could be wrong. Link to comment

I got a yellow watchman last month But didn't lose sight of it at all but depends on your rock and Scape. I regretted getting one. Comes out like once a day and when I get near the tank it hides. I also have to spot feed it since it can't go out and grab food itself like my clowns. Link to comment

When I got my first sand sleeping wrasse it disappeared for 21 days before I saw the thing. Chances are it's stressed and hiding. Poking around will make it worse. Link to comment

I have one paired with a Randalls pistol shrimp. When I first got him he hid for 3 days and now he stays perched by his burrows and swims on occasion throughout the tank. Give him some time to settle in to his surroundings. Link to comment
Balix Posted August 17, 2015 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Well, I'm not saying go to town with a turkey baster. Just blow a bit of air or use it to slide in through some crevices. If it's dead then you want to remove it. But they are really good at hiding. It's been in there for about 10 days so should be somewhat acclimated. Link to comment

Cove Posted September 28, 2015 Author Share Posted September 28, 2015 Well I found the Goby... He was in the back chamber of the tank! Alive and doing alright. He is very thin, I fed him some brine shrimp and moved him in the display tank. So I really did end up with two after all. Link to comment
