Can someone tell me what the process or formula is for determining how much my calcium/alk levels will increase in a 10 gallon tank doing a 10 or 20% water change, for example if my dkh is 8 and my water change water is a 10dkh, what will my new dkh be after the water change? or with calcium say I'm at 400 and my new water is 440 how much will my calcium increase doing a 10 percent change?

If you do a 10% change from 400 with 440 water, I believe the level with go up by 10% of 40 (the difference), so it'll go to 404.

If my math is right for calcium.

Old water=90% of volume at 400 calcium.

New water=10% of volume at 440 calcium.

Calcium total would be 10% of the difference in the old and new water calcium.

So like Harry said it will be 404.

Only thing is that in reality the results are weird...

Like ill be at 420 in my 45 tank, do a 5g water change (~10%) with water at 440, and then my water tests at 440 multiple times with Salifert. Lol I don't understand where the math/reality collides, but somewhere an alien is screwing with me
