Hey guys, I know it might be pushing it but do you think the AI Prime would be enough for my 24x24x18 tank?? At least until I can afford to buy another.

Prime Square Footprint is 18X18, it will certainly light a greater area than that though. If you just have it laying around and can throw it over the tank to keep things alive certainly, if you place your corals within the 18X18 footprint you will be fine as well. It will all be dependent on coral placement though. If you are looking at a more expensive light and wanting to drop $200 in the meantime I wouldn't do that, hold off and save that $200 and use it towards the light your after.

Both answers may be correct.

It really depends on what is in the tank, the aquascape and where you put things. AI shows the PAR 12" depth from the light as "covering" 18" square and even 24" square. However, only the center 3.25" (accuracy of the numbers is really misleading though as it is eyeballed at a center circle and 4.5 bands) has 250 par and then every 1.63" out on the radius from the center drops 25 par. You have 18" depth plus another who knows how much above the water for the tank mounted position, meaning your PAR at the sand may be much lower.

If your rock work lifts coral up, and you have coral arranged such that lower light corals are on the edges, it may be enough. I agree with both Harryjsinger and Exodus that it is probably not the light that you are looking for.

If you are still searching for a cheap LED. I would consider ocean revive T 247 since I have the same dimension tank with that fixture for around 165 bucks and it also have a mounting bracket which is a plus since AI prime mount will cost additional 30.
