Bingo1213
Not really in the typical sense. They contribute very little to ammonia, nitrite, nitrate or phosphate unless they are dying. But they do give off chemicals to harm other corrals and they do use up calcium, alkalinity, magnesium and other trace elements. So while they don't contribute to waste they will change other water parameters. Link to comment
ndrobey
You should feed them, and they do poop, so yes. It's not nearly as much as a fish, though. Link to comment
Bingo1213
I only believe in feeding corals if your tank is carbon dosed like mine. Before I started vodka dosing I never fed but now I have no choice haha All you do is add unnecessary crap to your water by feeding corals. Link to comment
HarryPotter
Just wondering, Iam still learning :-) I always thought "No" until recently. I had a BTA in a breeder box hanging in my tank, and every night the breeder box would be full of poop! I wasn't even feeding it and that happened. Then later I put a Frogspawn coral with one head in there, and same story. Every night theres a pile of detritus in the corner despite that i don't feed it Link to comment
Bingo1213
What this still doesn't explain is fact that coral only tanks never have nitrate issues what so ever. Unless of course they are over fed! Link to comment
