Quarantine tank disasters?

I've lost three batches of fish. Mostly Royal Gramma's, Pygmy Angels and Neon Gobies in my quarantine tank. (I'm doing a Caribbean tank)

The tank is an IM10 with Skyye 18 watt light. I heat it to 80, it has an air pump and another powerhead for water flow. The bottom is bare and it has two small pieces of live rock to give the fishes some comfort.

All levels are zero, ph is a little low at 7.8, salinity is at 1.025 and I do weekly water changes.

I'm beginning to think this tank is cursed! It has me thinking....are there any external factors that could contribute?? Do powerheads ever emit electrical current in the water and would that kill fish??

My only other thought is we just did a major renovation on our house with impact windows, isonene insulation, etc... (I live in Florida) and the house is really air tight. I'm sure it's contributing to my low ph levels, but shouldn't be killing fish, right??

My DT is thriving with Zoa's, Gorgonians, Mushrooms, Crabs and Shrimp......just no fish :(

I know this sound like a needle in a haystack, but I'm about ready to bypass my quarantine tank!

Thanks,

Dave

Try a new QT with all new rock, air pump, heater and powerhead. Any one of those things could be the culprit.

Also, make sure that you see a fish eat before you buy it. Do not buy a fish that doesn't eat eagerly. Do you buy the fish from the same store? Try a different source.

Yep my guess is electric.. Something is leaking pish.. And it might well be current

As if this forum lets me say "pish" that's amazing

Literly means piss urine pee etc.It is not a slang word as so many people assume but an ancient scots word.

Boom. Urban Dictionary is awesome.

I am a bit Scottish (Glaswegian as it goes) it means pish, simple, to put into context

"That's a load a pish" (that's rubbish)

"I'm phished" (I'm drunk)

"Stop pishin' aboot" (stop being a fanny (stop messing about))

"A need a pish" (I need a pee)

"Tha tastes like pish" (that tastes like urine)
