jkeating
I had this set up for about a year and it was pretty unsuccessful. It started ok but when finals hit and I had some family issues I somewhat lost sight of it. It has been set up again for about two weeks.-Radion Gen 1 w/ Reeflink and RMS (Have this peaking at 35%.Sound good?) When I get the funds im going to send back my light to be upgraded to the gen 3 pro -SCA 301 Skimmer -MP10ES -DIY Sump -Fuge w/ Ecosystems Miracle Mud *Lit by Par 38* -CPR Nano Reactor Stock List (So Far): Gladiator Clown Blue Legs Turbo Snail Couple Margarita Snails Couple Sand Tiger Conchs Couple Astreas Zoas/Palys: Magicians Darth Maul Whammin Watermelon Riddlers Revenge A few no names LPS: Recovering Frogspawn Recovering Acan Duncan Other: ORA Deresa Clam I went ahead and filled her up with RO about a week ago and went with Fiji Pink at the same time. Im really digging this sand. Ive been testing my levels daily or at least every other day. My alk was at 8.6 this morning, NO3 at .05 and PO4 at 0.03. I have a CPR nano reactor on hand right now, but so far m fuge and skimmer are more than taking care of the nutrients. Ive been feeding my LPS Mysis, especially the froggy and the Acan, and they seem to be making a major comeback. What do you guys recommend for food? i feed a combo of mysis and NLS Pellets, but want to change it up...I thought about making my own food. We will see. as far as the stock goes, i was thinking two more fish, maybe four if i can keep them pretty small. Thinking of the Tenaka's Pymy Wrasse and a Midas blenny along with my clown. I also like the idea of a shrimp goby, too. This tank will be mixed but with heavy emphasis on Zoas/LPS/Clams. Im sure a few SPS will make it into the mix as well, probably a millie and a few monti's. Who Knowws. When i start getting more coral i will break out the macro for closer, clearer pics. for now, my nikon P&S will have to do. Link to comment

jkeating
looks good what kind of stand is that Thanks, man. It's just a wall cabinet from lowes. I bought it unfinished, painted it, and added the top. Looking back, I wish i would have gone with granite but oh well. The waves are from a billabong decal. Link to comment
jkeating
Just checked nitrates and phosphates and both are at zero, or at least undetectable via Red Sea. Ugh. I guess i better up my feedings, the fish shouldn't mind. On a good note, zoas are loooking good. Everything is still settling and coming around. My sunny d's are a little scrunched, not sure why. I have an inclination to think the light might be a little strong, we will see. If you can see on the sunny d's in the right of the last picture they are somewhat scrunched, hope someone has some insight into it. I also need to get my 40D and work on taking better pictures, adjusting WB, etc. Link to comment

deathbyart
To chime in on the Apex question, if you have the funds..yes. It's been so great for me. This weekend mine will have a breakout box for the ATO. So then it will monitor EVERYTHING except for my light (use BlueFish mini for that). Going to give me peace of mind when I go on vacation in a month. Link to comment
jkeating
You need to start getting pods in sharpish I'm heading to the LFS tomorrow morning to pick up some. I also am going to start a culture in my basement in an old ten gallon! Nice setup. Following. What size sump and return pump? The sump is an AGA 10 from the Petco $/g sale. I wanted to at least have a twenty long, but space restrictions won out. The ten is about all my stand will accommodate, sadly. The return pump is some off brand. Ive had it laying around and never had any problems although i have been contemplating switching it out for an Eheim. I think the one i have now is an Aquatop. Yeah, i started this after our vacation this year. I remeber last year though i had a pH drop while i was on vacay that resulted in a total loss for all of my SPS. I had grown them up from frags to baseballs, came home and they were gone. I need to save up some money, first. Ugh. was going to post some pics but my camera is acting up. Link to comment

HarryPotter
Is there a general consensus on what controller is better? Apex or Apex jr vs Reefkeeper? Apex is better IMO for sure. The apex JR is just a simplified version of the apex, doesn't have PH, Salinity, etc. built in and only comes with 4 outlets. (Apex has 8) Reef keeper software is sort of difficult, but there's a lot of guides so it's not a bad option. Link to comment

Just need to save some money. Thanks for the input!Found a guy on Craigslist breaking down a tank tonight. Stopped by and picked up a couple frags. 2+in Red Digi, 6 Head Sunny D, and another pretty cool zoa/paly with a really long skirt. Finally located my DSLR and downloaded Lightroom..FINALLY. jkeating
Ran some tests today. The alk is holding stable at about 8.7. Nitrate was about .25 and Phosphate at .02. The only thing that looked a little off was Calcium. It was at 385- should I look to bring this up? Link to comment

jkeating
Things are really going good right now. First off, I apologize still for the sub par Iphone photos. So I visited a guy about an hour away from me who had an astonishing amount of coral. Stunning, too. While I was there I grabbed 5 frags, and he threw in some brittle stars and stomatella snails as well. One of the frags I got was a Red Planet. When I bought it was a greenish brown so he gave it to me for ten bucks, a stellar deal. So far the polyp extension is great and it's starting to color up nicely as I can see it start to develop some shades of red. To my pleasant suprise, my fuge is crazy and its producing an incredible amount of pods. My green mandarin is looking nice and plump right now, and along with the pods he's taking mysis twice a day as well. I have my fingers crossed that he will continue to eat so well. Here's some shitty iPhone pics, DSLR soon. I promise. Anyone else watch Seinfeld? I name all of my fish after seinfeld characters or an alias. The clown being Kramer for obvious reasons, and the little Mandy is Art Vandelay. Link to comment

jkeating
Just noticed this on my red planet. Under the shaded part has a whitepsot. I haven't noticed it getting worse though really. It's just kinda there. Keep in mind I just added this frag Sunday so it could just be stress. I don't think it's RTN because it would be gone by now IME. I just want some input. There's another white spot towards the right side but I think that's just sand that got in the glue or something. Either way, input is appreciated. The red digi is doing great right next to it.
