lkoechle
One of my clowns has had a white looking growth on the edge of his pectoral fin and on the top of his dorsal fin. Both of these areas took some damage from the dummy trying to host my diamond goby. They have been there for a week or so and are neither growing or diminishing. Fin rot just crossed my mind this morning. Whats the best way to treat it? Can I dip and return him to the display? Just soak foods in selco? Qt with some heavier med? I will get pictures up when I go down to the tank, I mean I literally just thought of fin rot. I am still in bed. Lol Link to comment
metrokat
Melafix marine treats bacterial infections, it contains tea tree oil, makes the skimmer nuts for a week. It is reef safe, I've used it a few times in my reef. Corals get pissed off but open back up. http://www.apifishcare.com/product.php?id=610#.VbeNkRNVhBc I use Melafix marine as my coral dip of choice also for any new corals. Link to comment
lkoechle
Well I cant get pictures. He is a phantom clown so the white on the fin disappears on his white bars when he has them tucked and the contrast or the black and white is making my camera go nuts on top of that... Link to comment
lkoechle
Also, i know its hard to say without pictures, but is it possible for it not be fin rot? I was reading on the issue, and it says most commonly affects all of the fins. Only these two have been affected. All of his other fina are healthy and normal. Link to comment
ReefWeeds
do you think it is possible the goby bit him when he was trying to host the goby? Maybe injury? Link to comment
lkoechle
Oh yeah. No doubt on that. Luckily its cooled down and been pretty mellow, phantom and raoul are looking for something more amicable to host them. But i have no doubt that this is the result of a well deserved ass kicking from the goby. Do injuries usually get some kind of white? I never noticed this when the clowns would occasionally tear each other (thats why christine got traded and we got Raoul for Phantom, yes they are phantom of the opera themed. Lol) Link to comment
