Sealing Flexible PVC To PVC

RIP Sebastian

So I am about to begin my first tank-Mr. AQUA 22 Long- and have some questions about plumbing. I am planning on soft plumbing with flexible PVC. However, I can't seem to find any check valves that are barbed. So, could I use silicone to create a seal between the two? If there is something I'm doing wrong please. tell me.

Thanks,

Nick

Flex PVC cannot be used with insert (barbed) fittings. Use regular PVC and glue it together.

THIS I made the mistake of using barbs with flex PVC, had to redo half my plumbing.

Are you using the ribbed, non-clear flex PVC like you'd use for hot tubs or the transparent PVC tubing you'd find on lab equipment? The tubing requires clamps, but the ribbed stuff can be glued with regular PVC glue.

First off, why do you think you need a check valve? They are a false sense of security and can and do fail. A properly designed system will never require one 99.99% of the time and will not flood guaranteed.
