My sand is getting quit dirty with detritus my tank had been setup for about 2 months. Rock is as clean as can be but I haven't found some good sand sifters in a clean up crew other than nassarius.

Once your tank gets over the "ugly" phase, the sand will clear up. I think my ugly phase lasted about 3 to 4 months. Once everything ecologically balances out, it will get clean.

Fighting conch. They are great at churning the sand bed and they eat detritus and some times types of algae. And they're fun to watch. My local store sells the smallish ones for about 5-10 bucks. Plan on getting one myself soon.

Keep an eye on them tho, my last one was extremely good at his job and I'd have to throw a little bit of food his way every now and then to keep it well fed.

My conch and my cowrie are awesome. I think the LFS just gave them random names. But anyhow they do move the sand around, are really cool and interesting pets to watch. Mine stay on the bottom and the rocks. I think they need establish tanks though to live. I had another conch in my 4-6 month old tank and I tried to spot feed it and it perished for whatever reason but the other one in my year plus tank which has algae on the the bottom of the glass walls have done great. I highly recommend them.

Worms are awesome. Small sea cucumbers are gold though.

Good flow helps more than any cleaner IMO. Stuff shouldn't settle on bottom ;)

true that also
