Transfering clowns to a new tank

Finally, after months of prodding and nagging my wife about getting another tank, she ok'd another 25g cube!! Its all ordered and hopefully will be in within a week or so.

My question is how do I transfer two clowns to the new tank? One clown is almost 2 yr old snowflake and in an 8g tank. He's probably 3in or so, and semi aggressive, his name is Chomper for good reason (he has drawn blood when I was doing a heavy cleaning of the tank). The other clown is a misbar that is maybe 2in and super active, hasn't shown any aggression toward the crabs and shrimp in his 8g tank.

I am thinking I want to put the smaller fish in first and let him settle into the tank for a week or so before moving the larger one. Or would the other way work better?

We got the larger tank to get the snowflake out of the 8g. I'm ok leaving the smaller one in the 8g for now since he is so small and still has room to grow in the 8g tank.

I'm no clown expert but I would probably add them both at the same time, as if you were buying two new ones to make a pair. Or you could add the larger one and then the smaller a obviously the larger one would become dominant. Hopefully someone with more clown expertise can chime in.

Since there is a significant size difference, you are probably better off adding them both at the same time. And it is a 99.9% certainty that Chomper is a she, not a he.

Your only potential problem is if the smaller one has also changed sex to female from being the lone clown in it's tank. How long has the smaller clown been solo in the 8g?

The little one has been in the tank alone for maybe 2-2.5 months. And chomper being a she does explain the nastiness and aggression ;)

The little one probably hasn't changed in that short a time. Add them together and watch them like a hawk for the first few days. If the little one isn't female yet you should be fine.
