AquaticEngineer
Sweet! Looking forward to seeing this progress What state are you in? I'm heading out collecting tomorrow if you happen to be an Oregonian and want to join Quote Link to comment
The Aquarist
Thanks! Unfortunately I don't live in Oregon The next challenge will be to find a suitable fish for this tank. I am also planning on filling this tank a little bit more, a couple inches. Quote Link to comment
AquaticEngineer
Be careful if you are collecting your own livestock in CA or WA. Both states have fairly restrictive fish and game laws on what you can take. If you need help sorting out what you can take just let me know I've had to read through just about all of it, lol Quote Link to comment

Seems like it would be much easier and you would have less stuff cluttering the tank Quote Link to comment

There are only three big holes in the top, its kinda hard to explain, but you cannot really mount an HOB filter. Plus, I want to create the look of a shallow tide pool. Quote Link to comment

Steensj2004
You should get a 12" high tank! Like the one I have!!! Cool tank Quote Link to comment
The Aquarist
Awesome! Such a cool environment to recreate! Thanks! I added more macros and some hermits. Now all I need is some fish. You should get a 12" high tank! Like the one I have!!! Cool tank Your tank is really nice. The thing is that coldwater tanks require acrylic (the thicker the better) and I got this 25 gallon 1/4 inch acrylic tank for only 40 bucks. The reason is to prevent condensation, and with 1/4 inch thick acrylic, I still get some condensation, mostly at night. I think it happens when I close the windows. A custom made acrylic tank would probably cost hundreds of dollars. I need to fill up the tank a couple more inches now, and I am also going to start culturing phytoplankton to feed the mussels and other filter feeders. Quote Link to comment
hoodle
Where do you guys get info on collecting regulations? Some states have easy-to-access ones (i.e. Oregon), whereas others (i.e. Maine) are much harder to find. Then some states are impossible to find regulations for. Also, is that self-sustaining? I'd imagine it would be hard feeding such diversity. Quote Link to comment
