All Blues, No Whites?

I have a small NanoBox Retro on my 15g. I really like the blue spectrum a lot more than using whites. I am debating running my light at 65% blues and 5-10% whites. With eventually bumping the blues on up slowly. I'd prefer not to even run the whites at all really.

I realize it all depends on how my corals do under that spectrum but could there be any other affects from it? I love the way my corals pop under the blues. I have a bunch of zoas, hammer, frogspawn, and a supernatural monti right now. But I have some more zoas and a green slimer frag on the way.

You need to run the whites. Why not just have them on when you are at work for 4-5 hours?

Is it for the fixture itself or the corals Dave? 60/10 a okay ratio for now till I bump them up? I work swing shift so I see it at all different times of the day.

I run my whites at about half of my blues intensity and only run them for five hours a day. Blue looks great, and most corals I think will do fine under only blues, but the sps and acros I believe will need the whites in order to thrive and grow. I didn't notice much pe on my sticks until I started bumping up the white interval from 3 hours to its current five. I did this slowly in like fifteen minutes intervals over a few weeks.

You can run all blues if you want and your corals will in fact grow, several people have tested the theory and shown it works. Is it the most effective way to grow corals? That's debatable, I agree you should have some whites though as it does look better. I got the best growth out of an AI Prime while the B/DB/V/UV All set @ 100% and Whites set @ 17 and the most growth I witnessed was on my Provona, Stylos, and Birdsnest SPS.

I ran 100% blue only with my radion on a zoa tank and I had way better growth than I had with an actual schedule

I love the blue light

Yeah I love all blues I think for now I'll stick with my current setup. 40% blues in the morning and nights and 60/15 blues whites during peak hours.
