jaquetheshrimp42
Hi there I have a question for this type of pair would it be fine if I kept both of them in a 5 gallon tank with just the pair inside the tank a probably a coral? Thank you so much:) Link to comment
Mirya
Yup. The goby will tend not to stray super far from the burrow and neither does the shrimp so they don't need tons of space. Look at my Mini Flower Garden tank thread in my signature - I have a Yasha Haze Goby and Candy Pistol shrimp in an 8 gallon. Link to comment

By any chance could you recommend me a type of pair for a begginer or are they all easy to care for thanks. And nice tank Link to comment
Mirya
I think all the shrimp gobies are pretty easy to care for so I think you will be good with any! Thanks for liking my tank. Link to comment
outerorbiter
Just try to get one on the smaller ones. The yellow watchman you asked about on another thread gets fairly big to be in a 5 gallon even if all it does is hang out in a hole. The yasha would be nice and they are smaller Link to comment

Can you guys also give me tips on how to care for them like do I need a heater under the tank so the cave won't be cold? Thanks also I'm following how this person made his tank do you think they will live if it's just the pair inside? Thanks again Here is the link on how I wanted to make the tank: http://nanosaltwatertank.com Link to comment
outerorbiter
Yasha or high fin with a candy pistol would be my choice. Based on size and looks Link to comment
jaquetheshrimp42
Thanks do you think they will live in this tank with them only inside? Also do I need a heater for the bottom of the tank for the cage? Also here is the link and I'm so sorry for asking to much questions as because I'm new to goby pistol pairs http://nanosaltwatertank.com Link to comment
Mirya
You may need a water heater for the tank depending on your ambient temperature, but you don't need an under the tank heater. They would do fine as the only non-coral inhabitants of the tank. (You might want some snails though as part of your clean-up crew.) Link to comment

jamescstein
My LFS usually has gobies and shrimp already paired up their tanks. To be honest, you get the right type of gobie and put it with the right type of shrimp they are likely to pair up. Link to comment

ETCs_Lady
I love my Yasha and Shrimp. I have a mated pair of red candies. I think they would be a good choice for you. In my other tank I have a Randall Goby and Tiger shrimp... they would not be good for you. The Tiger is really big and the Randall goes all over as the Tiger has dug tunnels EVERYWHERE! Yashas are COOL! Link to comment

ETCs_Lady
Thanks by any chance can you give me some care tips about them thank you! ^_^ Typical little fish care. Little bit of flow, moderate lighting, moderate feeding with some CUC. Easy peasy really. Do make sure you have some rockwork and sand for the shrimp to play with. They are ALWAYs digging. Soemtimes, I'll move the sand back into place because he has pushed it too far. They just start over again. My Yasha feeds my shrimp. My dominate shrimp also feeds himself. He'll come out during mysis time and grab a bite before heading back in. My two are VERY outgoing. http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/359833-tale-of-a-wandering-pistol-shrimp-love-and-separation-added-travel-video/ Link to comment
jamescstein
Give them more than just sand.. some rubble to play with too. The shrimps are quite the engineers. Link to comment

NinjaReefer
Yep. Give them at least 3 inches of sand and a bunch of rubble and shells for construction. Link to comment
jaquetheshrimp42
Hey guys thanks for the response. So all I need to do is 3 inch sand with some broken up shells and basic care for my goby. Aswell as a good rock work for the both of them. Thank you so much guys also how small should the crushed shells be or can they be whole shells? Thank you so much Link to comment
jaquetheshrimp42
Also is there a possibility their cave/hole will break and crush them? What should I do to avoid this? Thanks again Link to comment
NinjaReefer
The shrimp are fun to watch. They are always working. It will push a bunch of sand out of the burrow like a bulldozer, then pick up any rocks or shells near the entrance and take them inside to use as support. Give it a variety of sizes, It will pick what it likes. If it uses up all the rubble get some more for it. It will use a larger piece for a door to cover the burrow when they sleep. Also dont keep any small frags on the sandbed near it. It will steal them! Link to comment
