MrNanoReef
Nice build so far...following Make sure the shorter part of the 1st baffle face the bottom and the last baffle is 5/8" ~3/4" from the 3rd baffle, it increases flow to the return chamber. 2 Quote Link to comment
Marc.The.Shark
OMG good luck! Thanks Harry Nice build so far...following Make sure the shorter part of the 1st baffle face the bottom and the last baffle is 5/8" ~3/4" from the 3rd baffle, it increases flow to the return chamber. Will do, thanks for the tip. Gonna be awhile before I glue them in, might need a larger return pump 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanx, keeping my eye on your light build as well, I love those CNC Reef fixtures. Got a few surprises for mine, gotta find my tank 1st tho! Lol 1 Quote Link to comment
Marc.The.Shark
Ordered my tank today. Local builder, 36" x 12.5" x 10.5" Starphire 3/8" glass. Drilled for two 1" overflows 1/8" from rim, back center. Here is a mockup of the returns, 4 total, split into two by a SCWD. The pic shows projected flow from A & then B returns alternating. Definately need a bigger return pump! On the hunt. I was told 2 weeks for the aquarium. Any critiques of this plan welcomed. Quote Link to comment

I can't wait to see what you do with this I hope you get two MP10s; one on either side, that would be pretty sick (but $$ ) Quote Link to comment

We'll talk haha. For now I'm not buying/selling anything, but when I start we'll see. Quote Link to comment
Marc.The.Shark
Received most of the parts for my Custom, One-Of-A-Kind, LED light featuring 4, count 'em, 4 of Dave's V3 arrays & controlled by the one and only BlueFish! Need to order a couple fans yet, but have some work ahead of me with this stuff! Tank's probably a week or so out, but I'm in no hurry to get that (yeah, right!!) I know it doesn't look like much now, but just you wait................., 5 Quote Link to comment
Muraki
I can't wait until you get the tank! And with 3 returns, you will certainly have enough flow in the tank if you choose the right pump/pumps. Just my two returns with spinners creates plenty of flow, but I am pushing 400-600GPH out of each. I need to figure out how to post up a video sometime. Also the changes you made on that stand, looks fantastic compared to before. Quote Link to comment

I'm shooting for around 500gph out of each dual return at a time, so based on your info, I think the Jebao DCT6000 ought to do it. That would switch the SCWD about every 10 seconds or so. Are you pretty quiet with just the screens & elbows on the overflows? Still debating on running a box out back with full syphon & emergency overflow. Maybe I'll try it with just the elbows 1st. Marc.The.Shark
Great job on the stand, looking forward to following along on your build Sweet stand setup Very very nice. Good design eye. Thanks guys. Appreciate it. Working on the light, got the heatsink drilled & tapped. Changed the design up slightly so disassembly would be easier and had to order a couple small pieces of acrylic. Trying not to build myself in a corner in case one of Dave's crappy V3 boards dies on me! LOL JK Dave!! Ha. Also tring to figure the best way to control the fans with the Bluefish. I suppose I could order the breakout board from Spencer, but it's like $45 shipped, seems like a lot to turn a couple fans on & off. Guess I could just use my Apex to do it. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. I don't need to temperature control them or anything, but would like to run them lower speed than max to help on noise. Got some decent ones, but just in case. Quote Link to comment

Still debating on running a box out back with full syphon & emergency overflow. Maybe I'll try it with just the elbows 1st. I have no siphon running, I had to drill into the elbows and insert some piping the size of air tubing in about 6 inches, sticking out about 1cm. This removed all gurgling noises. All the noise now is coming from where the bubbling and water enters the sump. It certainly gets quieter as the flow is reduced, but it difficult to remove the sound completely. I have the drains submerged about an inch to. I can't imagine the noise if they weren't. But I might attempt a few other things to remove these sounds as well. But overall I like the noise of running water, so I am please. Quote Link to comment
Marc.The.Shark
Yeah, my current standpipe runs like that, I run the airline all the way down into the sump (or close to it) & then have a T about half submerged at water level to let air escape with the other end about an inch or so under the water level. Cant hear it at all with the door closed. I can take a pic for u if you want to try that. Quote Link to comment

Good call! You mean like this? Already got my eye on them! Lol. Pretty decent price on Amazon. Yeah, I went with just a 10gal sump so I would have extra room. My current setup is jam packed, it's definately a PITA, I feel your pain. 1 Quote Link to comment
