Anyone use there reef angel to control there nanobox. Or would it be better to just use the bluefish. Just wondering for when I upgrade my lighting

I'm pretty sure you can control the nanobox with any 0 -10v controller. Can always just ask Dave. Might even get a deal if you tell him that you don't need the controller.

[Edit]

Guess I was wrong, lol.

Nanobox are controlled by a pwm signal. Pretty sure that the reef angel has a module for such a signal.

Most use 5v signal though the bluefish mini uses a 3.3v signal.

Lol, really pushing to get rid of that thing aren't you? If only it was compatible with the RKL head unit then that would be awesome.

Haha it IS a head unit in itself! Trash that old RKL head

I meant there is no display unit. It's so simple to put my system on stand by with just two buttons and not have to deal with going through my phone for something right in front of me. I actually just emailed DA asking if there was any way to hook up the RKL head unit to the Archon so you may be in luck.

They have said that they intend to "Allow the RKE and RKL head units to become interactive displays for the Archon." if that helps at all.

You can add external buttons easily; using the IO inputs in the Archon. Just mount two buttons on the stand, one perhaps for "Feed Mode" and the other for "Photo Mode". (Lights, pumps, etc.)

FYI, basically all commercial controller output a 10v PWM signal. You will need to step it down to 5v for it to work properly.

How can u step a 10v pwm signal down to 5v.

Magic. ;)

O2surplus is more the person to ask that question. If you already have a Reef Angel, contact Roberto and ask him what you need to do. The Arduino at the heart of the RA outputs a 5v signal, he has circuits in place to step it up to 10v because at the RA's inception, there really weren't any good 5v LED drivers.
