HarryPotter
yeah i know, I'm considering one or the other Don't sweat it. I vote start off with something simpler like Two Clownfish and maybe even consider a mixed reef, adding an anemone or other soft coral Link to comment
ndrobey
Tangs and seahorses are both pretty difficult. Even a small tang is going to be unhappy in that tank, and seahorses aren't going to do well either. I would suggest starting with something simpler. Link to comment

braaap
And hows that going for you? (I said "most", not all) Look at the tanks in Asia. Most have a tang or two. Most are 30-50 gallons. Personally I'll have a Kole Tang. Eventually my tank will be done. Doing a Radion for my fuge light. Link to comment
Sancho
I am thinking this is a troll or a complete newb. If the OP is a newb his questions are valid as most LFS will sell you anything. And as someone new to the hobby those fish are very attractive. It would be awesome to have Tangs, Seahorses, Sharks, Rays, Anthias, Basslets, Puffers, Triggers, SPS and LPS all in the same tank. (thats my 10,000 gallon dream tank)But we all know thats not possible. I was on the side of the "tang police" for a few reasons Tangs swim so far everyday, they seem to be stressed easily, and most usually die of ich. They also dont grow like they do in the wild. On the other hand they are just fish! If the LFS already has it it is 100% guaranteed to die in someones tank eventually . So with that being said a young Kole Tang would work. Sea Horses need their own tank any Puffer will do if you dont plan on keeping coral. Basslets are very cool but are mean and territorial. If this is a true post and not just a troll trying to piss a bunch of people off. You need to figure out what you want the tank to be and plan for it . Link to comment

ndrobey
I was looking into some basslets, any suggestions on active ones? A Royal Gramma Basslet is a gorgeous fish, inexpensive and easy to keep. A Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse is spectacular. An Orchid Dottyback is a very beautiful fish with lots of personality. A One Spot Foxface will probably fit. Link to comment

Just because you can fit 50 people into a smaller home does it mean they will live a long and healthy life? Lets use some common sense here. And the guy who started this thread must be a troll to want to put a puffer, tang, and seahorse into 1 tank. Link to comment

If you weren't stupid you'd know most of those tanks have the dead fish or large fish replaced very often, and even then they have monstrous filters, plus they're usually fowlr setups. Gooburz
1.0reef no point in trying to make him understand, people will just be cruel to animals/fish and be ignorant about it. I see them losing a lot of money as well when the fish keep dying on them. My favorite line of all time is "They seem to be happy" or "They have been doing fine for the past month". News flash a month is nothing considering most of these fish can live for 10 years or longer. Link to comment
isaacharry
Okay, this started off as a simple question and everybody got overly sensitive about it... relax people, i appreciate the opinions but if you are trying to be rude, then simply don't comment on the post. Link to comment

Nobody said anything about filtration chief. You have a lot of butthurt in your little soul don't you? 1.0reef no point in trying to make him understand, people will just be cruel to animals/fish and be ignorant about it. If I was abusing fish/animals I would clearly have knowledge I am doing such act. If I didn't have the knowledge I'd be "ignorant" of the fact. Please know the definition of a word before trying to use it. Thanks. Link to comment

Thanks though. People get so butthurt over tangs in a smaller tank. Lets face it. NO FISH are "happy" in our tanks. But a tang in a 30-40 gallon tank isn't a terrible environment compared to the box they stay in at the fish store or wholesale facility. You'll never get me to buy into the fact that a smaller tang in a 30-40 gallon tank isn't ok. They can always be kept for a year or two and re-homed as well. Link to comment
