Mr. Clownfish
New FTS 7/21/15 Hello to you all. I am Mr. Clownfish. You may call me Sir Clownfish the first if you would like but I'm ok with just Mr. Clownfish. Please allow me to introduce you all to my reef tank. I'm fairly new to reef keeping and these past couple months have been a lot of fun setting this whole thing up. Its been running for a few months now but I finally received the final pieces in the mail on Friday afternoon so I figured it about time I set up an account and show you all my pride and joy. Here is the Equipment list: JBJ 45 RL AIO tank ATI Sunpower 8x24w T5 HO Fixture Bulbs: ATI Blue+ (4) - ATI Fiji Purple+ (2) - ATI Aquablue Special (T5) Vortech MP10 CadLights PLS-50 elite Protein Skimmer JBJ Nano-Glo refugium lights (2x) one for each side DIY media baskets to sit above the cheato (And below to keep it from getting in the display) DIY Stand for tank and stand for the lights Hydor ATO Livestock: 1 True Percula Clownfish 1 Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish 2 Red Firefish 1 Yellow Watchman Goby 10ish margarita snails 10ish blue leg hermits 1 Sexy Anemone Shrimp 2 Pepermint Shrimp Brittle Sea Star Corals: 4 headed Frogspawn, 2 heads of Hammer coral, GSP, Xenia, Mystic Sunset Monti, Pink Toadstool, Green Nepthea, a couple random leathers and some really ugly zoas that don't seem to want to com out after I glue them on to the frag plugs. Current Full Tank Shot 7/6/15 Stupid iPhone makes everything look a lot bluer then everything really is. This was what happened Friday and me building the final pieces UPS came knocking . I made a mess Everything turned out pretty good. I just need to paint it now. This is the back of the tank. The overflow leads into some filter floss, bag of carbon and then dumps into the cheato. Then I made some baskets out of egg create to sit at the bottom with rubble rock and another bag of carbon for each side. so far so good. And here is some more random pictures This is my puppy dog Chloe who spent the day with me hanging out. She was pooped out because she went outside for a while and it was hot out. Link to comment
HarryPotter
Heck yeah! Pride and joy is right- I LOVE the RL-45! Wow your equipment is incredible- talk about doing it the right way the first time! Only thing you are missing is InTank Media Baskets- they putt the stock RL-45 ones to shame! I reviewed them in my RL-45 thread- heres a quick picture to show the difference And here is a quick blurry picture from earlier today Hello to you all. I am Mr. Clownfish. NanoGeek
Nice setup! +1 on the InTank baskets, they are miles ahead of the stock ones. Harry did a great review on them which totally made me open my wallet and order them. Great stuff! Link to comment
Mr. Clownfish
Hi Harry. I looked at your tank a lot to help me when I got started. Yeah the stock baskets suck and the inTank baskets are nice but the price is crazy on them. Plus I wanted a lot of room for cheato on both sides. So I made a simple basket at the top to catch the waste and a cage at the bottom for live rock and bags of carbon so that cheato can not get thru to the skimmer or main pumps. But I do really like your tank. I love the clams. Link to comment

Mr. Clownfish
Yeah my wife said I can only start a tank if we can get a green mandarin goby so I'm doing my best to get this refugium going so we can get one. I don't really have high hopes after everything that I have read but we'll see what happens. I got the chaeto from a very well established 400 gallon reef tank system so now I have copepods every where in my tank. But I told her we cant rush it so I figured some time this fall/early winter we will see if we can find a mandarin. Link to comment
Mr. Clownfish
Now I'm on a search for cool looking Zoanthids. I really want to have a nice Zoa garden. Anyone have any recommendations for a good site to order corals from? Link to comment
Emerald525
Nice looking tank. I love the rock work! I do t know about online places as I get most of my zoas locally. Link to comment
Mr. Clownfish
Thanks Emerald525. I took me a few weeks but I'm really happy with the rockwork. There is a big open cave under the pile on the left side that has become the favorite spot for almost everything after the lights go out. very entertaining to watch at nights. Link to comment

I am going to use your aquascape for inspiration when I upgrade to a cube. I also love the ATI lights. I have a maxspect razor but I love the look of the t5s better. I don't like the disco ball effect and they are hard as hell to get a good picture in. I have had several atis in the past but thought I would try the maxspect because I got one used for a reasonable price. Link to comment
Mr. Clownfish
Update 7/20/15 Well the wife an I went away on vacation for a week and the tank is still alive. All the timers, auto feeders and ATO worked great. In fact I think the best thing that I could have done to the tank was not touch for an entire week. Everything just had time to settle and start to grow. I also picked up a few new Zoa frags while I was away. Came home, got everything dipped, acclimated and put in the tank. So far everything is looking great. All of the corals new and old have really great polyp extension and all the parameters are looking good. Alk is a little on the low side but nothing to worry about just yet. Here is some new pics. Stupid iPhone makes everything really blue. Link to comment
