1/2 Centimeter long killer slug? What is this?

Admonition

I was looking at my tank tonight and noticed a large white section on my live rock. Although I've noticed that my once purple live rock has been loosing coralline algea, I didn't notice such a stark 'bone white' until I put a flashlight to my tank in the dark. When I was doing this I noticed this tiny slug thing on the rock. It's about half a centimeter in length and has a hard outter shell with a soft/squishy underbelly. It curled up into a ball when I took it out of water.

Any ideas what it is? And if it has anything to do with my suddenly white rock? I attached the pictures so please let me know if they don't work.

Thank you!

Yep definitely a chiton. It's good. Great algae destroyer as long as your fish don't flip it over and eat it
