MJ1980
With the heatwave in London at the moment hitting 28-34 degrees,I'm finding it very difficult to keep my temp down! I've changed my lights to being on at night and off in day... I've tried frozen RO which as I have no sump putting it on top of water just scares the fish! I don't think a lot of my corals will make it to September. Any advice would be great Link to comment
khuzdul
34 degrees. Ouch! You don't need frozen RO. It can be regular water, but it should be in a sealed plastic bag so that when it melts, it does not mix with the tank water. You can also try a couple of fans which would work for 28 degrees, but 34 would probably only go down to 30-32. The combination of floating ice in the sump and fans on the display tank might work, but it unless the heat is temporary it is hard to keep up the ice in the long run. The surest bet is to invest in a chiller. Link to comment
LongDoggy
Can't you just buy a window AC unit? Link to comment
Mstefa1
I've kept my tanks about 87F (30.5C) for about 2 weeks this spring before I turned the AC on. No effects although I didn't maintain that long term.. If your at 34C you're in trouble. Link to comment
CJJon
Big fat fan blowing across the top of the tank. Reduce your photoperiod or change it to a later time so the lights are on when it is not so hot. Turn off the lights--couple days lights out won't hurt. Turn off everything in the house that is not required. Desktop computers put out a bunch of heat. Get a window AC unit. Link to comment
