Rock Flower Anemone question

I decided to start a new thread rather than post this on the RFA Appreciation thread because I need a lot of exposure and suggestions.

. I am moving 1200 miles on July 29 and will be 2 nights on the road. I am taking my Nuvo 8 with coral attached to LR with me. I plan on keeping everything in the tank as is and keeping it in the car with me while traveling. It will have a battery powered aerator (while driving) and I will run the filter in the motel at night but I'm concerned about Annie my RFA. The rest of the corals while expensive, are mostly Zoas and some LPS and I'm not too worried about them (whether they make it or not), but I am about Annie.

How hardy are RFAs and how tolerant are they of temperature swings (that would seem to be my biggest problem). I will have the tank up and running permanently again after about 3 days and 2 nights of traveling. What do you all think?

When I moved recently, I had all of my liverock and coral including my two RFAs in a 5 gal bucket for a little over a week. In there was two long car rides without aeration, heat or light. (The longest was 7~ hours). They both did great and actually stayed on the same rock they were on when I originally placed it into the bucket. In my experience they are very hardy creatures.

+1 on the hardiness of RFAs. I wouldn't bee too worried.

I'd honestly suggest putting your liverock and corals into a 5 gallon bucket for the move. I think the risk of damaging the tank by moving it while full is really high. Also, ditch your sandbed if you have one.

The bucket worked really well in my case. I only lost a couple corals that were too delicate for the move. I would also suggest throwing away the old sandbed.

Bare bottom and I was planning on siphoning about 5 gal of water out of the Nuvo 8 (it only holds 6) lifting it while supporting the bottom and putting it in the passengers floor in my van then filling it back up to cover the corals and then reversing the process when I get to my destination.

Does this sound like a good idea to you guys or would you stick with the bucket idea? I figured by doing it my way, I would avoid disturbing things twice and there is no sand to add weight.

I would remove it to a bucket for a couple reasons. 1 you won't have to worry about the stress on the tank, from the rocks toppling, the water sloshing, or someone bumping it. 2. you can move a bucket much easier than a tank.
