This. Doesn't a blue tang get like 10" long?

Bigger than that I've seen a 14" one before and can't say it isn't awesome!

That tank is crazy beautiful though. I don't understand how he's able to do it, but hey Kudos to him! He will probably continually change the tangs with his LFS for babies- no?

Yup that's what I plan on doing plus you get more back than what you paid for it

HAHAHHAHHAHA FUNNY.

I promise you that NO LFS will ever give you money for an exchange for that..... At least the ones I've been to. I'll buy a coral frag from the $20 section, bring it back 6 months later with it tripled in size, and would be extremely lucky to get even $15

I'm friends with my LFS fish guy, I'm. Certain I'll get paid son ;) lol

Pretty sure that if the fish got too big he'd move them. Pretty logical I would have thought!

Aww lucky. I can't get more than $3-$5 a frag- even when they sell identical ones for $30 :(

Yeah that is BS that they do that, buy for dirt cheap and then turn around and sell for a killing. Thankfully I finally found a place where the guy will do a fair trade with me, I brought them a nice size purple and green frogspawn with about 4 heads on it and he hooked me up with a beautiful bright orange open brain coral.

Not sure what it's like in the US, but in Sydney Australia a lot of local fish shops are shutting down. It costs a LOT to run a bricks and mortar business here. Even a small store will pay $1k/week in rent alone, insurance is sometimes as high as the rent/week, not to mention power bills and salaries.

Not many businesses can survive on 100% mark-up, mark-up usually needs to be around 400-500% for most businesses to survive). It just won't cover the costs of running a physical shop.

Online is a different story though and much easier to run due to very low overheads. People selling corals online for example tend to undercut shops by 50%, which keeps reefers happy but the shops suffer. It's a vicious cycle that's for sure! I for one am more than happy paying premium prices at local fish stores to help keep them alive, especially if the owner has been running the shop for many years, and is genuinely into the hobby.

I would hope so. I'm always skeptical when people buy fish that are too big for the tank at adult size and say that they will either swap them out or are planning on buying a new tank.

Beautiful! Thought you guys and gals would appreciate! Many more videos on his YouTube Channel.

Hmm his euphyllia don't sting each other? I thought torches and hammers were incompatible!

Love his tank except the Kenya tree :slap:fingerscrossed:scarry:

This is pretty mild fish stocking from what I have seen from many of the asian videos posted on youtube. The heavy stocking is clearly in style over there right now, and very taboo here. I'm sure they don't care for our opinions on it though.

i have been nano reefin since 2001 and i moved to korea for work on 2009. That is lightly stocked tank in asian standard.. I would never do this.. but my friends who packs fishes including tangs in small aquarium... seem to do fine... some reasons why this is, most people live in apartments, electric bill is 3 times higher, fish prices in asia are about 1/3 compared to states.

Fish stocking density is a regional thing. As long as the fish stay healthy long term...

Livestock looks vibrant and healthy. However, would be much more pleasant with a more natural (slower) surge pattern. This is the only reef tank that I've seen that's made me queezy

Those fish will die a premature death because of his poor husbandry. Its not ok to just write it off as a cultural difference when it is cruel to the animals.

I wonder about this sometimes, any of you talking about the tangs ever seen a tang in the wild? They swim miles every day. But it's okay to keep them in a 6' tank. Is there really that much difference keeping a full size tang in a 6' tank versus a small one in a 2 or 3' tank? In all honesty, probably not. In either case you're taking an animal that swims constantly all day in the ocean and trapping it in a few square feet. That sounds like the definition of cruelty to me, and probably something better left in the wild regardless of size.

Not saying it's cool to keep a tang in a 5G, but a lot of people need to relax and take a step back, there really is t that much difference between 12 sqft and 4sqft relative to the square miles a wild tang enjoys.
