Alk question

So after much research over the past year I was under the impression that as long as your alk was above 7 and stayed stable you were fine, but now I'm reading a lot about negative affects of having too high of Alk, people seem to recommend about 9 or so. Well I've recently started using coral pro salt and the Alk levels are about a 12, is this going to be a problem? Is this considered too high?

Stable levels between 8 and 12 are usually recommended. Higher alkalinity levels, like what RSCP mixes to aren't necessarily a problem unless you are keeping an ultra low nutrient system, which are better kept at near NSW levels (closer to 7 dKH).
