Tiberione
Other than maybe suggesting inTank media racks instead of "custom caddy's".. Everything looks great. Yeah I looked into them, but I ended up getting a deal on the custom caddy's which currently hold a bag of purigen and a bag of chemipure blue on both sides plus some sponges and filter floss. Next thing I have to do is spraypaint the mesh that comes with the fusion 20, its like a big light reflector. Pics incoming, filling it with water right now Link to comment
Emerald525
I have a Fusion 20 as well. That's a good idea about spray painting the mesh. I'm not sure why they made it white. Or I was going to just do a DIY screen cover. I have almost the exact same setup as you. Here's my link. I was going to run purigen and chemipure and have a desktop reactor but not using it right now. I don't need these right now as things are doing well with just routine water changes and I have mostly zoas so I don't want to strip the nutritents out of the water. I started with an Rw-4 but like the flow pattern and the look better of the mp10 which I got used. I really like the Intank media baskets. They are a work of art! Right now I just have filter floss and rock rubble in there. Here is a link to my thread: http://www.pnwmas.org/topic/34437-emeralds-im-fusion-20-zoa-paradise/ Link to comment

How do you like the Maxspect? I was going to go with the 60W but I decided that more light wouldnt hurt. First time running LEDs for me so its going to be interesting. The timer/ramping brightness was a selling point for me. Tib Link to comment

First time running LEDs for me so its going to be interesting. The timer/ramping brightness was a selling point for me. Tib I got a good deal on the Maxpect. It's really my first real attempt with LEDs. I'm not going to count the horrible first gen chinese knock off that I first got that was not programmable and was a a hair algae grower LOL. I am partial to T5s particularly the ATI models as I don't like the shimmer and shadowing. The 120 optics helps spread it out more. I tend to like more blue in my tank so now that I have ramped it up to more blues than whites I am loving it a lot more. I do love the programmable ability of it and I love that I do not have to change light bulbs. I am just set in my ways sometimes. I have the current settings: 7am A B 0 1 10am 25 45 1pm 35 55 4pm 25 45 7pm 10 25 10pm 0 0 The tank is in my bedroom and the moonlight was just too bright for me. Link to comment
tibbsy07
I think between the Chemi-pure blue, the skimmer, the GFO reactor AND the purigen you are going to have way too much filtration and nutrient removal. Link to comment
Tiberione
I think between the Chemi-pure blue, the skimmer, the GFO reactor AND the purigen you are going to have way too much filtration and nutrient removal. The water I use (no RO/DI Filter @ house) has seen many days of high phosphate (0 everything else. It's commercial water, like water depot) so im trying to run a lot of phosphate removal to keep the algeas from overrunning my tank. That was my reasoning anyways, may regret when I begin putting corals in. Link to comment
tibbsy07
Gotcha - if you end up having problems later, I'd start by removing the purigen first. Chemi-pure blue is chemi-pure elite with purigen in it, basically. Link to comment

Tiberione
Still murky but not as bad. Maxspects are ramping up right now so not noon sun yet, but good enough brightness for pictures. The darker rock on the left in the back will be leaving the tank once its cycled, its a sump rock from my display to seed bacteria. Link to comment
Tiberione
Yess! It was clear by the time I got back from a small trip. Now the only issue is microbubbles. Gotta find the source, may be the skimmer. Setup the GFO for now, but likely going to shut it down / run less when I introduce corals and judge how much I need to run it by how the corals / levels react. Link to comment

Tiberione
SEXY! You going to get an Anemone to host em? Once they get a bit bigger and the tank is a bit more established. Right now they're having fun swimming against my wavemaker LOL Link to comment
Tiberione
Hi! So I was looking around my tank today and noticed this stuff. it's brown and somewhat feathery (like the small ones out of feather pillows) and now that I noticed it, all over one of my rocks in small patches. Any IDs? Link to comment

Tiberione
nice scape and light! are you going to keep the heater on the front glass? It was temporary while I waited for my neotherm to come in, and just haven't done a FTS since I moved it, so right now its gone. It's just diatoms, a normal part of a new tank. You can just blow it off with a turkey baster I'd never seen non-film diatoms before!! Thanks! Link to comment

Tiberione
Decided to take a trip to Canada Corals to browse and ended up picking up a few to be the first corals in the tank.. Keep in mind these are all taken with a cell phone.. Think they came out alright but I don't have a DSLR to take extra nice ones Maze / Brain Coral: Acans - Forgot what kind.. Digitata And from another angle.. Focus isn't great but I think the picture looks cool! And finally.. My favourite peice, Elegance Coral These were taken 2 hours after they finished acclimating. They are temp locations to see how the corals like them, then I'll glue them down. And finally, a new FTS Link to comment

Tiberione
Hi all, Its been a while. So when I originally put those corals in my tank, they went through a die out and none made it past a week. I couldn't figure it out. I'm guessing it had to do with the huge algae bloom that happened during it. So I waited a couple of months and reintroduced some new corals. These have been here for a few weeks and are doing great. And.. a new friend for the clowns! FTS: Link to comment

Tiberione
So since the last post: It looks like I bleached my Hammer colony. Its still alive, its slightly retracted and still pretty white. I've dimmed my settings on my Maxspect down in hopes to have it not die on me. My other coral growth is AMAZING. I think Im going to need to start trimming my Kenya tree .. Its growing at such a fast rate. Ive also added a new elegance frag which is more expanded but less deep in colour a week since I got it. Still looking healthy. I also have some orange zoanthids (no idea what the name is exactly). I've also added a green hairy mushroom to the bottom right so it isn't so empty on the sides. Its liking its location. Ive also added a firefish, a sandsifting starfish, and an assortment of snails and a cleaning shrimp. Pics!! First, FTS , most updated since last post:Onto new corals. For the new elegance: Week 1 Week 2: New hairy mushroom: Crab switched his shell to the shell of one of my nass. snails.. I dont know what happened to the snail, but I guess the crab is enjoying his new home. Shrimp: Bleached Hammer: Link to comment
