help me decide i am starting a new build and mods let me know if this is not the space for that. i have a 40 breeder and all my equipment is overkill and ready for 90-150 gallons. my two choices i have narrowed down to due to space limitations in my 440 square foot bachelor pad and only one wall it can go is 48 inches long. I have narrowed it down to a 120 gallon or the 150 gallon both are 48 inches long and 24 inches wide , meanwhile the 150 is 30 inches and the 120 is 24 inches tall. its between the perfecto/marineland dual overflow. or the deep blue professional with dual corner flows. i will be making the stand and canopy from scratch! help me decide pros and cons.

btw i have an eshopps r200 sump/refugium. 4x kessil 350n . i will need to upgrade my protein skimmer as i have a psk-100. i have over 40-60 lbs that has been cycling for 6 months minus what i have in my current tank.

The primary con with the 150 is usually light penetration. However, you have 4x 350Ns so I can't imagine that will be a problem. I suppose the only real cons to the 150 are a matter of preference. The proportion of the 120 is preferable to some and you may need a step ladder to reach the back-lower seem. However, you may prefer a taller tank and may need a step ladder to reach the back corner of a 120. Aside from these point, you get 30 more gallons of volume, which will add to stability. Also, I believe you can get the perfecto with one corner overflow.

Also, I have the r300 sump. I find the square socks to be a pain in the ass as they are exclusively built for this sump and, if you have a drain pipe below the water line, difficult to remove. I would consider adding a new filter sock mount/tray if you intend to use them. Good looking sump though! I just completed a 180 with sump and connected frag tank; fun but a lot of work. Enjoy the new build!

Thanks ! Yeah lighting is no concern! I have a wholesale buddy who throws me these new for cheap. So I can also grab another two if needed. Yeah well I'm picking up a used stand today and my gf and I are going to sort of skin it with a rustic beautiful look! Yeah I just found out the 120 deep blue has two corner overflows and the 150 high has one corner overflow. So that's another thing going I do not want two overflows! And I was just thinking of buying the round filter sock thingy from Eshopps! Any skimmer you can recommend?!

Bro I'm five seven lmao I am going to need a step ladder no matter what!

I had a 120 and it was perfect. I think having a 30" tall tank would make maintenance too much of a pain. I would go 120. Even at 24" it was just deep enough to make maintenance a pain. I also had a tall stand. But either way, great tank dimensions

Now is the price difference. As I am ordering online. Thru Amazon. 786$ shipped for the 120 with dual corner overs. Or 998$ shipped with one corner. If I order thru a lfs it's going to be around the same anyways. They do have 120 gallon dual back middle overs for 590$+ tax looking at 680$

998$ shipped wfor the 150 gallon tall with one corner overflow

Build coming soon. A friend pretty much have me a 112 acrylic at 60 inchesaand 18 inches deep. Since I have a chevron I thought that would be better.

I would be VERY careful ordering a tank through Amazon, Deep Blue and several other aquarium manufactures void their warranty if you order through Amazon. I just found that out because I was going to order my Deep Blue 80 Breeder though them until I found out that info.

i would suggest going with the 120g (48x24x24). maintenance will be much easy and easy to light.

remember 24" is pretty tall as well. Not sure that T5 light can work on a 30" tall tank though.

I had 120g and the 93g where height is 24" which is perfect.

good luck with the decision
