aviator300
Here's the deal. I've got a new IM 10 with In Tank Media basket and the floss in chamber one clogs up so fast that I have to replace it sometimes daily to keep the flow through the basket from backing up and creating much too high water level in the DT. I understand the purpose of Stevie's baskets is to create a channel where more of the water is forced to filter through the basket instead of bypassing it (Like the stock basket does). I'm using the stock pump so it's not like I'm overdriving the system with too much flow, so what's up and has anyone else experienced this issue? I suppose I could just change the floss daily and be done with it or reposition the basket so more flow bypasses it. What does everyone think about this and what have you done to correct the problem. I need to know why this is happening and what can be done about it. Link to comment
Cove
I just got mine in yesterday, I think the filter baskets are designed in a way were you don't have to load in a bunch of filter floss, On one side I have three thin layers of floss and on the other I have one layer of floss and the medium size chemi pure blue (we don't have the nano bags yet in Canada). So far so good. Ill keep everyone updated in my Tank Discussion. Link to comment
tibbsy07
I have a single piece of Stevie's filter floss in my inTank basket in the IM10 and I have zero problems with flow. How heavy are you feeding? How much floss are you using? What else do you have in the basket? Link to comment
kylhcky
ive noticed this happening. the filter floss is actung like a restriction, use less and your problem should go away. if not, whatever else is inthe basket could be causing the restriction Link to comment

Also, when I switched to Chemipure nano, the flow is much better through my basket(I use two bags: one in each lower chamber, then the small amount of filter floss on top). Link to comment

Very good idea along with all the other suggestions. I'm used to using an AC 70 with an in tank basket and cram a whole bunch of floss into that with no problem. Guess i'll just scale back the amount used. Link to comment
StevieT
Use one sheet and feed with the filtration pump off This is a small basket and can only handle so much restriction. If this is the first time the tank has seen filter floss it will clog faster, over time it will be less. I change the floss on that same basket once a week, sometimes twice. For the water to visibly change in the DT you must be using a lot, or clogging it really fast. Granted this is a 10 gallon. Link to comment
