As the title indicates I'm looking to buy a nice soldering iron specifically for LEDs. I'm tired of using my current cheap radio shack soldering iron and want to pull the trigger on a nice set-up. Please let me know what soldering irons I should look at and some info on why you recommend it.

I have been happy with my Weller Soldering Station. Had it for years and other than new tips every so often, it had served me well. About $100 or so.

My first job when I finished school was a TV repair man (yep that was a thing!)

As someone who soldered every single day for a living I can say with some authority the best iorn money can buy is the weller wtcpt unit.

All these years later I am still using the same soldering iorn to make the lights for Marine-Pac 3 :)

Hard to beat a Weller iron. Get something 40W or greater. The higher the wattage, the easier the iron will be able to keep up with whatever is pulling the heat out (like a heatsink or large/copper MCPCB).
