hi guys,

is it normal when you see an clown fish hanging around the wave maker? Also with there head down? I know they are not sick, no sign of infection, gasping and eat well. When i drop the food, it will leave the wave maker and comes to eat very aggressively.

Any feedback on this is appreciated.

Mine do that. Sometimes the girl looks dead so still she is. Then zip there she goes. I have no clue why they do it.

my dont look like is dead....is more like with face down/swim at the same time in a 90 degrees angle. but when I put food in...damn they are all over it...sometime i dont even have to put food in, along with my fingers at the tip of the water, they are running over. =0)

I swear she is just letting the overflow current keep her in place. Used to freak me out, but now I just walk over and like yours she comes running. She's been doing it forever. I'll try to get a picture or a video of it next time.

I had one that would sleep up against an intake. Several times I thought she was dead Scared me twice when she woke up when I went to remove what I thought was her corpse.

post-88319-0-21917200-1435689559_thumb.jpghello guys,

here is a picture of my clowns, as you can see, their head is down and kicking it by the wave maker. I also notice one of the clown was twitching yesterday, no sign of gasping or infection. I heard that is because they are going to pair together, wonder if that is the truth.

Wow my clowns are really weird right now (never had two at the sametime) they are like couple tha fights...sometime they will be kicking it..some time the biggest one will charge the other clown to a point it makes the pther one gasp...then they stop...is like a broken marriage..bahhahaha

I had a clown pair that hosted the corner of my tank, they'd sleep/rest nose down tucked into the corner 2/3rds of the way up the tank at night when the lights went off.

Clowns often host wave makers as they vibrate/osculate and they seem to like it, also a lot of wave makers don't have a massive draw from behind them and clowns aren't strong swimmers so the calmer water is probably favourable.

I've researched this before and the best answer I could find is "it depends". But usually anywhere from several weeks to several months. My clowns have been together for about 4 months and I feel like they just really figured it out and they still have some spats now and then.

I see both of them try to "bow down" but they still go at it, not bad, but enought for one of them to gasp.

For couple seconds, kind of worry now cause they were like 35 bucks a pc

Amd i also see them together at night by the wave maker..kind of like fighting couple..and make up..lol

My clowns have been together for 6 months now. I think they were just getting ready to spawn - the female was cleaning an area at the back of the tank. Anyway, last week, the female disappeared, for nearly 24hrs. She didn't come out to feed...anyway, as the lights were dimming for the start of the night cycle, I heard some clicking coming from the back of the tank. I had a look in the rear chamber, and there she was, between the skimmer and rear wall, no worse for wear. As soon as I placed her back in the tank, the pair greeted each other, the male doing his submissive shake.

Since then no signs of any spawning, and the area she was originally cleaning, is now no longer cleaned :(

One thing did strike me after all of that (considering I have a latter Oceanic Biocube with higher "fish saver" false wall)...how the hell did she jump the through a quarter inch gap, between the hoods splash guard and false wall, and then find the only bit of water within the central chamber not filled with a skimmer and inTank media basket???
