Markburns43
Looks like a wild variety of and encrusted maze coral?? Link to comment
Mirya
I think it might be an encrusting Bryzoan or a Botrylloid tunicate colony rather than a coral. Either are filter feeders that are rather difficult to keep in capitivity. Link to comment
amphipod
Is it hard like stone or soft? Link to comment
Markburns43
I see a lot of holes ando such mirya is most likely closest to the answer, very intereating piece any ways Link to comment
Frannsfish
It was in among a tank of soft coral when i bought and the people just assumed it was probably a sponge. It is soft but very heavy and it changes from having what looks a bit like veins over it to just being the dots with holes in. I got it Wednesday last week and the bits which died during transportation have grown back now. I have also noticed that there may be something living in the large vent like holes. It was only £25 which is why i bought it, but become a bit curious on what it is. Link to comment
jamescstein
+1 rock covered in a tunicate colony. There are critters that will live inside tunicates and sponges. I've got a couple of largish tunicates and watch amphipods go in them all the time. Link to comment
Frannsfish
here are two more photos of it! Link to comment
amphipod
Botrylloid tunicate colony this is what it is then. http://glassbox-design.com/2010/tiger-sponge-botrylloid-tunicate/ Better get some of them fine filter feeding snacks for them. Link to comment
