Wartskin Angler Size and Growth

Hey. I am thinking about getting a wartskin anglerfish. But I am having troubles finding a size right for me. I have found a reliable website (if you have suggestions for a website with an IN-STOCK wartskin angler, please tell me.) with the angler. But I can buy the fish in different sizes, like small (1-2 inches) medium (2-3 inches) and Large (3-4 inches). I am confused on the fact that these are all priced differently with the size (smaller is less money) and that the small sized option is only $90. I really want a large, but it is much too expensive. What I am wondering is: do wartskin anglers start out small and grow to be big. A smaller one would be a much better option if that is the case. I want to have it for as long as possible so I want to get it at its youngest state. But does the size of it determine the age? I want a large, so if this is not the case, should I just bye the large and will I get its entire lifespan (in a tank) along with it? If someone could help, that would be great! Thanks

It should say on the information about the fish what the max size will be. Small, medium, large, etc. - depends on how old they are. So, a smaller fish would be a younger fish.

Welcome to NR!

Full size they get to be about 4". So, a small one is younger than a larger one, but they only get up to the aforementioned 4". No idea who has one in stock, but liveaquaria has them--set up an email alert.

I've been thinking about one myself, but the thought of live feeder shrimp has turned me off a bit. They don't eat chicken.

My LFS has one in stock. I watch the little devil eat. Freshwater ghost shrimp. Might get expensive. But cool to watch. Someone on here just bought one from liveaquaria within the last month or two
