VW_TDI_02
Looks like a Stomatella snail to me. Here is some information about them. From what I can see, I don't see any sort of shell like a typical snail. http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/SwSnails/Stomatella.php Link to comment
markalot
Very good snail and will reproduce in the tank. Usually comes as a hitchhiker on live rock. Link to comment
rone_kevin66
Thanks just wanted to make sure. I love how his shell looks Link to comment
VW_TDI_02
Does it look like an actual shell? Stomatella don't really have very big shells. Look up a few pictures if you haven't already. If that is a shell then it almost looks like a tiger cowrie shell Link to comment
amphipod
Check the back side of the shell do you see whorls, a cowrie won't have visible whorls on any side of the shell. Don't touch it with your bare hands if it has whorls. Link to comment
rone_kevin66
It dose have a shell but their is not a comb bottom that in saw. Link to comment
amphipod
It dose have a shell but their is not a comb bottom that in saw.check for the whorls, its probably a cone snail! Link to comment
rone_kevin66
It looks like it I can see 3 rings and then a point rt in the middle I hope I don't have more if it is a cone those things are monsters Link to comment
amphipod
Look up some pictures of cone snails to see if I am right, I think it is a cone snail. In that case, its a predator with a venomous harpoon. Do not touch it with your bare hands, small ones probably can't kill you ( probably can't penetrate skin if they are small enough) but if you happen to be allergic to the venom, I'd hate for you to go into anaphylaxis. johnmaloney
Found this guy this morning when the lights were out. I've luck on finding an id. He dose have 2 antenna and a syphon. Marginella snail. He is OK, a scavenger. Rumored to also eat microfauna, but they are so small they cause no trouble. I have kept them before. I think yours is Persicula persicula, the spotted marginella. Planarian
+1 on P. persicula, just another harmless scavenger and another interesting part of the microfauna in your aquarium. Link to comment
amphipod
cant be persicula if indeed it has visible whorls. persicula will not have visible whorls Link to comment
ajmckay
Atlantic Marginella - Prunum Apicinum Link to comment
amphipod
It dose have a shell but their is not a comb bottom that in saw. Atlantic Marginella - Prunum Apicinum might be the answer to the case, but this little bit of information is possibly contradicting the suggestion depending how far the snail retracted in the shell, potentially revealing the ridges on the opening of the shell.
