Had a great vacation in St.Thomas. Was snorkling at Honeymoon Bay (Water Island), snapping some pic. Got one of this Damsel with the orange top and faint dots.... Then this little guy swam by....

OMG My eyes pop. I had never seen anything like this in any LFS or on TV. This little guy was about one inch long and fast...and when the sun hit him his colors went electric blue, green with that black background. I must have snapped 20 pic's hoping to get some good one... This was the best shot.

Anybody got an idea what it is..? Body didn't look like a damsel, wasn't a angel or wrasse. Again it was only a inch long and the orange damsel was at least twice as large as him.

Looks like a jewel damselfish, I'm pretty sure my suspicions are correct here's some more info for recognition

Best website I ever seen for referencing a fish is fishbase.org from the info, if it is indeed Microspathodon chrysurus it would have to be a juvenile since the adults have a yellow tail.

Your other one does look a bit like neoglyphidodon bonag, only problem is they are on opposite side of the world you were diving in. Maybe someone better is going to come through.

June 3rd we arrived in Tortola spent two days there. Did the"Indians" near Normal Island. That was amazin too then the 5th came back to St Thomas and did several beach snorkles and one boat trip to St John's Hawksnest Bay. Snapped some flounder wierd , and stingrays and lots of coral. One coral (hard) was a aqua green color never see that color before. Came home June 12th.. nice vacation.

One of the ship mate said she collected "stuff" for her brother who lived in Tortola. What an amazing tank I would have if I lived there. An if one didn't get along I could just put him back where I found him... ahhh now I'm dreaming...

That's a pretty cool vacation.

I also have wished I lived near the ocean, I'd have an awesome local life tank, load it with worms and pods.
